Fuck The New Modles...we Ride Old School!

i dont like alot of the new music....alot of it sounds "nintendoized" & alot of tha rappers rap about a life they dont live...so its not "real"..

i like the older stuff... the Lost Boys "Renee" is tight and Royce Da 5'9'' "life"....Canibus & Pac are off tha hook...

old school has all tha pioneers of music, it's truer to tha roots of hip hop...

self 04-06-03 09:48 PM

Straight up...I find Old School boring. But hey, thats me.

Barney Rubble 04-07-03 12:09 AM

old school is the bomb like method mans bring the pain and old wu tang shit

Johnny 6-feet 04-07-03 12:40 PM

plaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayed topic, and beats are getting better, its the lyrics which are played.

multis are good though.

~HoTTie~ 04-08-03 01:29 PM

it depends on what old school you listening to...not all of its hot...more new school is hotter than old school...like mind of mystikal it came out in bout '95...shit sucks man...

i'm not dissing old school but it looks and sounds terrible to me

Chicken 04-08-03 05:15 PM

yeah, canibus and royce are old skool.

Effervescent 04-10-03 03:45 PM

Word. . .

LaRyan Shabaz 04-11-03 02:17 AM

Oh, all the "old schooler's" rapped about the trueness.

Cats like "old school" Dre, and an Ice Cube... shit...
I wish they'd keep it more real for me. Sleeping in piles of money.

I think these labels are fucking ridiculous. Some shit is good and some is bad, in any time. What goes for old school now? Is Illmatic fucking old school??? Royce, Canibus... get the hell outta here. I think you should go a little deeper into the artists out there and promote the shit you like. Just because the swarming butterflies of the Neptunes abound doesn't mean the art is wack. You are. Dig.

fatman 04-11-03 12:08 PM

old school sucks, just cos it was good at the time doesnt mean its good now

Effervescent 04-17-03 12:31 PM

kool g and tha gang
sugarhill
bdp
krs one
pete rock
rakim
eric b.

old school... they're sum of my favorites n their shit is tight..better than alot of tha "rappers" today....and it's still good now. half, if not more of it, is classics. i bet prolly alot of tha songs now use beats and samples from their songs...

Effervescent 04-17-03 12:36 PM

deep enuff for u LaRyan Shabaz..

wack..haha ;)

MuhThugga 04-18-03 12:33 PM

I see nothing wrong with the music today, at least the music I listen to, and I think it is better than the Old School, but that doesn't rule out any type of talent in the Old School.

I like music from then, I like music now.

You are one to talk about not being real though. This is coming from the same person that is arguing with me about the depth of a Ja Rule song?

G. Buttersworth 04-18-03 01:37 PM

FATMAN

^obvious newbie in the hip hop world.

respect our hip hop forefathers.

hip hop is still evolving.. and you can't say everything is wack then or now. alot of dope shit was and still is around. the thing is that, alot of the dope shit people bring out... doesn't get the proper airplay to be heard by the masses.

i prefer hip hop in general. old or new. as long as its dope.

(even *some* backpacker music is dope)

can't believe these kids said. KRS, Black Moon, Wu-Tang is boring.

and thats old skool.. but not that old.

You're a shallow person who can't and doesn't kno how to appreciate the lyrics of a song. So I give up on you. You're fuckin wack & your going to stay that way. Why don't you open your eyes up & read the lyrics & think about them. If Nas of Canibus would have sang them same exact song, you would have been all up in that shit & sayin how deep it was....

word... :)

I think half you people who diss Nelly & Ja Rule are all pretty f*cked up. I'm not sayin i'm Nelly or Ja Rules biggest fan because I'm not...but im sayin more than likey, If someone else would have sang their songs you would have loved the song. But because of their appearcence & sound of their voice & because their sex symbols, you hate on them. It's not always about the sound of the song...if you were rilly into music as most of you claim to be, you would kno its not all about the beat. You have to lisen to the words...but since none of you are into hip hop or REAL MUSIC you jus lisen to tha beats in your car, turn tha bass up all tha way, then you cant even hear the word....you all only care about base. And if you do kno the words to a song it's not because you understand them, it's just because you played the song so much u memorized the words....Think about it.

Okay, if Nas, fuck that, if Aesop Rock did that song, and used the same beat and used the same lyrics, I would personally write him a letter and say what the fuck is this piece of shit?

I understand lyrics, okay? I am not shallow. I listen to the lyrics, and personally, prefer lyrics over the beats. But true lyricism comes with making it sound good to a beat, but the words offer insight and other clever dispositions that make me think about what the artist is saying. You don't know me. I don't know you. But I can tell you that with poor lyrics like that piece of shit Ja Rule put up, there is no way I can deem him a credible artist.

Oh, and by the way, in my car, my bass is at three, and my treble is at it's highest of six. And yes, I believe it is a 1990 Chevrolet Lumina with the factory speakers still intact, so don't tell me I only care about bass. I only put a new head unit in so I wouldn't have to listen to the shit of Ja Rule and 50 Cent played on the radio 24/7, and I wouldn't have to transfer every CD I own to tape. Do not try to call me shallow, because I can assure you that those assumptions will make you, and only you, look stupid in the end. Though you are already looking stupid enough trying to acclaim Ja Rule as a deep poet with metaphorical meanings and true symbolism.

Go to www.sandboxautomatic.com and get some Definitive Jux or Anticon. Go get the music of a true poet.

Um...dumbass, no he wasn't. Hip Hop first started in the 70's.

Van Ished 04-19-03 10:53 PM

I like Nelly :)
