How can you tell when any MC freestyles? just because the have a track on their cd dubbed "freestyle" doesn't really mean it is. It's hard to prove things are freestyled. IMO

If anything all the old school MC's like Am At Cha stated were true freestylers. Record deals and lime light wasn't such a big deal back then. More about soul and realness.

you gotta think..when your hearing a beat you can
come up with at least three lines to start you off
and have one or two lines stored up in case you
get caught up to reword for your own satisfaction....

lol what do u mean by prewrite? when u write down lyrics and they are impailed in your mind thats not prewriting, look at the extra footage in 8 mile, eminem battles in there, and there is no way he prewrote all that shit against ppl he has never seen and all of his disses are straight personals, in fact eminem probably is one of the best freestylers around. the reason he is where he is at today is bc dre discovered him freestyling on a LA radio station and therefore found eminem...

I would say Jay-Z and Eminem...

Jay-Z because almost every album he has, and all his guest appearences are freestyles...he goes in the studio, and leaves in like 20 minutes...

Eminem is just a genius in freestyling...that is how he was discovered, and you ever heard that "Rhyming Words" thing on the radio station...sick...

Well... I got an Em and Proof freestyle off kazaa and he started off amaizingly WACK...but man...Him and Proof was ill...seriously...Plus they were high ir drunk or whateva..!!

And Proof.. I never took any notice of him, And i feel guilty i hadnt noticed his abilitys b4... Im not an Em or D12 (Proof) Fan, But i admire theyre skill...

Most of Jay's freestyles are not prewrites fuckers "do u people listen to music or just skim thru it?" Jay used to free ALL of his songs reasonable doubt is 60 percent freestyle shit...and Big L didnt prewrite either Big L uses some material over but it used to be a trick among Harlem emcees (i know) to have certain bars that you would have on the side should you not be able to think of anything in a freestyle, Big l did this fairly often, bleh my two cents, Big L was great but considering Jay freestyles good songs and Big L freestyles good Jay has my vote that opinion coming to u from muthafucking Queens, and @ G.Hod IMO means in my opinion, 1luv.
