I think Mike Shinoda is talented in terms that he can rap. But it doesn't take much talent to speak fast in accordance to a beat.

His lyrics are so... pathetic. Seriously. Like he, a jabroni from an upper middle class californian home and two point five family with a picket white fence and the whole nine yards, had ever had a bad day in his life. He's worse than Diamond Dallas Page. At least DDP has had bad days in his life, despite what he otherwise says.

Thing is, the majority of Linkin Park fans don't dig the Hip-Hop thing. They be down with the nu-metal scheiße. If Shinoda did a hip-hop album, it'll fall. Fast. Like jupiterian gravity.

But that's just my thought.

I think he would do alright, he is a pretty good rapper for a rocker, he got flow, some pretty good lines, and he flows well over the rock beats...he will do good if he decides to go solo...he should definitely take some beats from the Reanimation album they did...Frgt/10 on that album was fuckin sick...

shinoda is ill... i like him, he was a hip hop artist untill whatever record label lp is on was put together by them... i would like to hear some solo shit by him... would be like some atmosphere type shit...

man every one of those kids are talented. even if u dont like the genre u have to appreciate the talent and art the put into every single thing they do. their singer has a wide range. he can go from a soft voice into a hard yelling tone and still sound perfectly toned to the music. mike is an excellent lyricist. he too has a wide range.their dj is incredible. the overall talent of the band is amazing. and they take full control of every aspect of their work. they get mad respect from me for that. their instrumentals alone are amazing. if u studied music you would notice certain brilliant elements that they have. the different rhythms, melodies and harmonies thaey create are something to be studied. they are one of the most talented and respectable bands out and should get no hate.

anyone who says he sucked probably never copped reanimation....simply put the kid is dope......his lyrical ability is just being put down by close minded individuals who are turned off by the fact he is in a "rock group"

Thing is, I actually like Linkin Park. I mean, I've bootlegged all their material, even their japanese cd release.

But Shinoda... sure he's come up with a few good lines. But it's just not enough to make it in pure Hip-Hop.

I mean, that reanimation release was a debacle. It was just a way so the company could hold the fans at bay while they spend extra time trying to come up with new material. Sort of like when the Simpsons do an episode of nothing but old clips from other episodes.

If Shinoda came out with an album all on his own, not only would he be hard pressed to come up with those ill lyrical lines every second of the dealy, but the fans of Linkin Park would most likely just see it as a cheap way for the company they work for to make a cheap buck. After all, rock listeners don't know how hard it is to make a rap album.

To be honest, I don't question his rapping ability. I just question is lyrical content. He raps about pain inside him. He has no pain inside him. That's what is so fake about it. That song "Somewhere I Belong" was designed for angst filled teeny bopping goth wannabe posers. It was not a reflection of any member of the band. That's what is wrong with Linkin Park.

Now Serj Tankian, the vocalist to the band of System of a Down, he's about as real as you get. And he did do that one song with Wu-Tang Clan, and isn't afraid to use the 'N' word.

^agree with the statment about the lead singer of system of a down.......it just seems to me that rock groups who have excellent lyrics great wordplay albeit a different type of flow are getting dissed by kids who don't know better.......i knew Tankian was dope back when he did Prison Song..........that was a rap song done to a rock beat basically.........i just hate when a genre is judged based on bias and wack artist *cough* limp biszcit *cough*..........i do disagree with reanimation..........only cuz i thought the same thing..........once i copped it and heard how they didn't just remix the album...........they added new stuff and showed the different directions they could have gone..........and i never said shinoda should go solo.....i said he was dope.........dope where he is.......why fix what isn't broken?
