Do you consider it rap?

So I got to thinking and pondered
how does the average joe MC feel about
Chrisitan Rap
is it rap?

my 2 cents - i never heard of christian rap (oxymoron?) until my ex put me on it...
i dont go out and buy there albums but some of these guys have lyrics

If you see Fighting Temptations, T-Bone a christian rapper, spits some bars... i was like wow... i had never heard of him, after using the trusty internet i found out he was 'For God'

but the guy who made me look up was John Reuben (yes hes white too) my ex played a song called Do Not... it was ILL.. beat was off the hook lyrics were hot...

So do you guys think its rap?

INsanity 09-28-03 01:18 AM

who said rap had to be bout guns, violence, the hood, money, girls bentleys and velour suits?? honestly i think its a turn for the better. Enuff of all this stupid i got so much money its comin outta my ass bullshit its time for some deeper and more meanigfull lyrics. I mean not only christianity but religious in general.

Kredit 09-28-03 01:19 AM

Yes, it's rap. Just a toned down, non-violent version of what's on the radio and shit nowadays.

Menik 09-28-03 01:24 AM

Yeah i consider it rap, like what was said before its not all about killing, guns and all that stuff, rap can be about anything really.

Coast 09-28-03 01:44 AM

christian rap is definitely rap, rap isnt just about violence and shit like that, it can be watever it wants

MuhThugga 09-28-03 01:51 AM

Yes, it is Hip-Hop.......

listen to Mars ILL lately?

Dirty Sally 09-28-03 01:54 AM

I guess it just shows how extensive rap is now and how hip hop is growing. If a song's got a spiritual message and it's hot I won't knock it.

Alchemy 09-28-03 01:55 AM

Yep, Christian Rap is Rap. If it was a nice beat and good flow. The lyrics have to be good to. So yeah, Christian Rap is pretty awsome. They don't need to cuss and shit to be able to spit good.:)

sal-v 09-28-03 03:58 AM

Download some tracks by an emcee who calls himself: The Ambassador

I listen to lots of hip-hop but I don't listen to the christian shit
How many words rhyme with Jesus anyways?

sal-v 09-28-03 03:59 AM

^You need to open up your mind. Download some of the tracks by "The Ambassador" .. $500 says he's better then anything you could throw together.

varentao 09-28-03 07:59 PM

The oxymoron is asking whether Christian RAP is RAP...(!)...

(Well at least i think it is..)..

*Y_nOt* 09-28-03 08:56 PM

yea...i guess you can consider it rap but as far as me ever bumpin that shit.....FUK OUTTA HERE HAHAHAHA!!!!

Past Tense 11-16-05 09:30 AM

no?? then why you think they call it CHRISTIAN RAP

G Deuce 11-16-05 09:35 AM

Rap should not be sterotyped into whats right or wrong. There has always been this sterotype that rap is considered "ungodly" when depicted out of our society. However, rap is just an expression of one's emotions and feelings on a rhymic level. SO, christian rap is considered rap nontheless, and it shouldn't be considered an oxymoron when used in the same sentence.

M.C. Streak 11-16-05 02:50 PM

Sean Gunner 11-16-05 03:44 PM

Anyone notice this thread is from 2003?

Magic5 11-16-05 05:14 PM

^ Yeah, JRoy keeps upping these old ass threads.

Phenom-in-all 11-16-05 07:55 PM

rap is rap whether its christian, jewish, muslim, or none of the above. Rap is a genre, and "christian" is a sub category. Like "gangsta rap".... word.

ps - Ambassador is IIIILLLLLLLLLLLL.
