Im tired of people stereotyping southern based hip hop

since im in the south, do i rap like master p? or like pastor troy, or whatever wack shit you can think of? It just pisses me off when people pre-judge you as soon as you state what region of the country/world your from...fucking gay.

people judge the south off of what they see on the television... on MTV, BET, etc... those ying yang twin fags, lil john and the groupie boys...etc...

and i get both sides of it...cuz of how i sound, i dont sound like im from the south.. so people down here pre-judge "up north" emcees purposely around me... as boring, and slow, using "big words"... in all honesty it makes me so mad i want to just call the whole south one thing... but i dont, cuz i know that there are alot more "me"'s down here.

to put it simple...
im sick and tired of bickering between these two "styles" of emcees...

everytime my friends get together it escalates to this ONE subject...

sal-v 10-02-03 12:55 AM

spoken by a true ignoramus...

lil flip is a fuckin fag, he is no "underground" anything down here, theres a dude in my area who calls himself "the freestyle king of the south" so i guess since he calls himself that then that is indeed what he is, even though i ripped him horribly in the local record spot...in front of his little friends... who are now my clients...

AlcaTrakz 10-02-03 04:15 AM

Syn is my hero - he has expensive monitors

06joanto 10-02-03 04:19 AM

im from hawaii ....dont get that problem here.

Dez 10-02-03 04:40 AM

blah...everyone is stereotyped...you are not the only one that will have to face hardships...

overcome them and prosper...

Content 10-02-03 05:19 AM

well theres just as many 'you' as there are 'mes'
up north...a majority of south makes me sick besides
outkast n dungeon fam...da brat cause her flows sick
when shes trying actually...everyone else just makes
me sick for the most part

bruklor said something like this..theres two types of
underground emcees...the ones too smart to get put
on radios..the real ones.....

then the ones who could never make it as a
mainstream artist so shitty videos get made and
played on bet uncut at 2:59 and cut off like thirty
second into the song with credits and closed captions
to mute out shitty hooks n lyrics 97 percent of the time

Yaknow I was wandering about that....does EVERYBODY in the south talk like that and everybody down there like the Lil' Jon crunck style? Or it's just a selected group?.....that just happened to get national attention?...

Kinda like Detroit....we really don't have a "image" persay..but the whole Eminem, Shady Records style and the way they portrayed Detroit in 8 mile was alittle far fetched..the underground battle scence in Detroit has NEVER had that much souport or interest around the city...those sceens at The Shelter where ya'll saw emecces battling in front of a packed house like that?!?...No...you lucky if you get about 100 people to that type of stuff...Detroit is a more materialistic, hustler, club-oriented hip-hop scene..more emphsis on pimp culture type subjects and street stories...Only a select few really get into that emcee battleing type stuff

First off. Ill-Mental you'll notice your stupid freeposts are gone. I will continue to delete any stupid freeposts. You do not have freepost immunity, and for a good reason; you can't freepost for shit.

Stereotypes are, for the majority, true. But, people need to realize that stereotypes are exactly what they are, an idea of someone or something which is the average for a certain person, type of person or type of persons. When a stereotype is founded it is usually made upon what a group of persons does in an area, race, wealth, well anything really. A stereotype of something is sound, until it is actually used to type an individual person and that is where stereotyping went astray.
A stereotype is true to all people within that stereotype, obviously. But as obvious as it is, its as though a stereotype has been interpreted as an actual truth, which it is not.
If you actually hold a stereotype of a certain person, believing that person is part of the stereotype you think they belong to, problems are sure to arise at some point in time.

Stereotyping can usually attribute itself to ignorance and fear.
Don’t talk to a person if you hold them into a category.
When you stereotype your vision decreases. It goes from 20/20 to Stupid>Smart (meaning ones stupidity now outranks ones intelligence.)

90% of Demigodz Members Originated From The South .

Precise. 10-02-03 07:15 PM

Tonedeff is originally fromt he south.

Jae and I are both from the south. But our styles are more of what you would hear underground-based. Nothing like that "dirty south" shit you hear. And no. . not everyone from the south enjoys that trash. In fact, the majority of the people where I live hate it. I actually think people in the northern regions enjoy it more. But blah.

Tired of stereotypes eh?

I don't think posting a thread about it will help.

But whatever floats your boat. :)
