Question to Topical writers
 

why does every damn topical have to eand with a death or suicide??? every story song has death at the end... why is this... even when i write my own shit, i sometimes end it with death, but lately i have been tryin to move from that... but im just wondering why...

Because...It helps put a twist to a story to make it more interesting.

but everyone does it... so it doesnt twist anything cause you know what is gonna happen

It Depends On How You Build Up Your Story Character.
If you Know So And So Has this Good Personality
But ends up committing suicide, it adds an element of surprise.
But I See what Your Saying, As You seem to grw older, Stories seem to become somewhat of tragedies, because maybe maturing or, a current time in your life, where something is changing, and it is a serious issue.

Now that I think about it though...about 25% of my Topical Writtens end with someone turnin on their friends and killing them....maybe it's cuz of bein backstabbed one too many times. A good question for my General Psych Teacher.

There are not that many genre's. Love, Death, Hate, Pride, Etc.

Maybe if you read more you would know more about how this type of thing works.

It doesn't matter twist wise. To make a nice twist you can used a PLLAAYYEEDD ass concept as the ending and simply express it in a way that no one has ever thought about. But yea death is the biggest twist to a story. It's the shock effect of it hence why people over-abuse it.

Because ninety percent of Hip-Hop heads were goths who listened to too much Manson and Type O Negative.

That, or there are a lot of uncreative people who think they are somehow unique.

Then again, just because it SEEMS like everyone elses, doesn't mean it is. It could be very much like everyone elses and still be unique. Suicide song by Sole comes to mind.

Im not sure, but ive noticed that too...Death or suicide, and it is becuz everyones lookin for that twist..problem is, the ending is so played now, theres no twist..New shit needs to be unveiled!

^^^ you are one ignorant mother fucker... I know there aren't that many geners, but it doesnt have to end in death EVERY time. Im sayin end a story with a happy ending once in a while. It gets boring to read about death all the time. And im talking about the topicals that are stories about someone. "Billy was a good boy, he was very happy... Then he killed himself" come on, you can think of a better story. I realized this when I wrote my last topical. I got to the end and thought, why does every story like this end in death? So i left it open to the reader, and now i have been writing some more and i realize that i dont want to write about death all the time. Im sayin change up the endings once in a while, this goes for me too... I was just tryin to make some other people think too, but some people are assholes

As for the death thing, I think it largely depends on the topic. There are various topics that connect directly with death. If I were to set up a topical battle with a topic like "gunshots" or "dripping blood" obviously, it's gonna be a story about death. Which is why in the league, I try to set up the battle with fairly open topics that can be molded by talented writers.
Death is very easy to write about, but actual emotion and everything else that comprises life is difficult.
Thus, everyone choose death, at least in writing.

Werd to Maven, its not really the endings and such that are important, its the storytelling, character build up, emotion, depth, imagery, writers voice, word choice, a writer could take `death` at the end of the piece, but still make it dope and fresh, its all about how the flip it at the end and give it their own twists. .

Death is an easy topic. So, people prefer to do it. Plus, it is something many people have experienced happen to a friend/member of the family.

Death is easier to pour tons of imagery in it, describing someone commiting suicide adds a bunch of dope imagery to your piece and emotion too of course. I just prefer writing dark pieces over happy ones...

Death is played..

Death is the only thing that keep's me going.

Everything gets played after a while, you just have to manage to stand out with top imagery, try to make it slightly different even though it revolves around a played topic such as death.
