just a question thats been gettin to me, like,,does "jin" have his whole 30-seconds of freestyle already rehursed before he battles? is this wat most cats do? is this wat alot of cats do?

And do cats have fresh and rehursed PUNCHES that they bust in freestyles? is this normal??

Yeah i think it's completely normal. Everybody's probably thought bout what they wanna say at some time and when they've thought of somethin they've wrote it down.

Everyone Has Rehearsed Stuff...They're Just Looking For The Right Sounding Beat To Execute A Couple Of Practiced Bars To, So It Stays On Beat N All..Although Some People Do Tend To Kick Total Filler In Battles..They Normally Lose :rolleyes:

I think almost everybody has rehurst what they wanna say. Especially mainstream MC's. So when you see or hear somebody like Jay Z or Eminem or whoever freestylin, their probably not freestylin. Not anymore anyway, it's too risky for them to freestyle now.

Maybe, maybe not. I dunno. The chances are that everybody has an idea of what their gonna say. Whether it's the full verse or just a few bars or somethin. The best place to look is underground MC's coz like I said mainstream rappers tend to avoid freestylin now. Can you imagin eminem doin a really bad freestlye now after his past in the rap olympics. It could fuck his career up, so he just avoids it.

It all comes down to how confident the rapper is at freestylin and shit. But when mainstream rappers say their freestylin on trl or whatever. Dont believe them coz their probably not. Underground MC's are the best ones to watch and study.

Everyone rehurses there shit if you into something big, you don't want to slip or do something stupid like that so you reherse, for freestylin, you got no need to reherse.

In my view it's okay.Cause you might be thinking of this tight punch then wait like a hour later without writting it down they you'll regrett it.

Jigga, Em, Llyod Banks... mainstream, on the internet, underground.....don't let somebody put you in the okie-doke and fool you in a battle like...yo, we comin' stright of the top of the head...and you like 'aiight" you bumblin' fumbling with words, and the other cat is smooth with his becasue he has couple of back up lines in case he stalls out. I think its a plus if you come off the top..especailly in battles..but don't put all your money on just off the top shit..have some shit ready too.....espeacially if your able to get in front of a pretty large crowd and you need to showcase your skillz, don't be a damn fool.....

Didnt read much of anything that was written above. But true "freestyling" is what makes an emcee and "emcee".

But yes, the majority of "Freestyles" you hear, are not really freestyles. Most cats spit complete and total written verses, not a bit of off the dome shit, which is pathetic.

Of course everyone has some lines in there head, that when they reach a dead spot in the flow, they bring out so they can recoup, i believe this is acceptable.

Most people think when they hear someone come with dope ass punches in a freestyle, its fake. (Especially on here). But I dont know about yall, but I have thought of some of my dopest shit off the dome, and after i spit it, im like "wtf, thats rediculous".. i jot it down and use it in a track later on.

well the thing is once you have written enough shit and used it in other freestyles or practcied it just in your head or whatever you get a whole lot of little segments ya know.....foir like a 30 second battle, mabye think of a quickie about the guys name in your head your battling...throw a couple segments one or 2 of the hudnreds you have filling your head..with the filler between them being freestyle....thats what i figure most people do...although mabye they rehearse a whole verse i guess it depends who does it..im sure some people do do it all off the top of the dome but it dont sound as nice or hit as hard...

Naw, you have to, if it's a good punch you pre-created that. Only the "1" can come fresh off the dome, and say catchy shit all the time. Sometimes it takes a sec for you to register a brain fucking punch, so how long does it take to construct one, definatley not a coupla seconds. People may touch the apex a couple of times in their life, it's called bein open, but NEVER on a consistant bases

That is what is supposed to be the art of freestyling? Being able to come off the dome, sound nice, and have hard hitting lines and punches. Freestyling is an art, and that is what it is all about.

If your doing anything else it is not technically freestyling. Believe it or not, some people can do it.

I freestyle, pretty much all off the dome, and I always have. It used to be whack as fuck, then slowly but surely i began thinking of dope lines str8 off the top. (Im not claiming to be some ill ass freestyle battle emcee, cause Im not. Im not "dope" at freestyling. But you fools that barely come off the dome at all, beisdes with filler, that is not freestyling.)
