its funny, you would think people would have a general apprieciation for music alltogether but its not really like that. People now a days are to stuck up and shit, I dont blame other people for disliking hip hop i just wish they would keep an open mind, because despite all the negativity thats being aired i think hip hop has came a long way and its still progressing....if you ask me hip hop just started.

I usually get a lot of critism for listenin to eminem and pac and the rest of them by limp bizkit fans and stuff. Sometimes it pisses me off coz I grew up around hip hop and rap is my only real talent but I dont let the critism get to my head. I know MC Bizkit personally from college, he's one of my friends. Look what I did to him (check my sig). After that the critism stopped. So just use the critism to try and prove myself to them

I love proving detractors wrong when they make accusations as to why Hip-Hop is garbage......
I love it when they try to redeem themselves after I play songs from people they have never even heard of and who never speak on the topic of guns, money, or bitches.......
I love how they think Hip-Hop is just a bunch of dumb idiots who couldn't utilize musical talents so they just stick to rap, and then I play some of the most beautiful and thought provoking songs utilizing every poetic technique in the book....

Hip-hop is on the increase here, but mostly people are only listening to 50 and Nelly for the catchy hooks and shit, i only know of a few people who actaully listen to the lyrics being rapped, and being able to relate.

Most people like the rock/rap crossovers, which are just plain fuckin' annoying, but everyone is entitled to thier opinion.

Rap to me, is a way that i'm able to express my passion and emotions, "through my words i can let you into my life.". It's just so real to me, word.

Everyone has there own opinions, my opinion hip hop and rap is my selective category, but some rock and metals ok sometimes. Matters what crowd i'm with, but people that hate on it just dont relize tha truth behind there words. Thats my opinion.

Personally I think those type of people are really missing out on something great. Some people dont like hip-hop just b/c its not their taste in music or maybe they just dont like hear'n all the mainstreme shit wit the "bling bling, and dolla dolla bill yall" type of shit. People are sometimes really not open minded about things and its sad. If you look as hip-hop as the culture that it is and its many elements, I think that they would in turn love it and become fans. Ive always lived in an area where hip-hop was the dominant music and braught styles that pretty much everyone was into too(BROOKLYN). My friend used to be strictly rock, saying all rap is garbage, etc., now he listens to the same gangsta stuff and enjoys it. The good stuff too as well as rock. But he probably only became more open-minded because rap is cool, but hey, whatever.

When it comes to finding someone who does not like Hip-Hop... you should be able to discuss in a positive conducive enviroment the said subject. Find out why they don't like it, and be able to counter either why such an opinion is valid, or acertain a way to make the person change their opinion. If your mental capacities are incapable of such a thing, then you should hardly be representing Hip-Hop, and instead pop a Britney Spears CD into your stereo, as that is about the kind of mental capacaties one probably has who can not discuss a positive conducive argument with someone else on a subject that should be their life.

Also, for anyone who thinks Run-DMC is old school... or pretty much everyone who thinks they've mentioned an old school artist... you're dumb and uneducated and you either need to pick up a book or stop listening to Hip-Hop. Listening to Hip-Hop and not knowing who Afrika Bambaataa is, is like listening to techno and never hearing of Kraftwerk. If you listen to Hip-Hop and you don't know who Grandmaster Flash is, that is like listening to rock music and not knowing who Chuck Berry is. If you listen to Hip-Hop and don't know who Dj Kool Herc... well... you get the idea. Learn your scheiße.

Both Hip Hop and Punk Music are lifestyles; we should all accept it as that its just different ways people live in their life choices.

music is music. its for everybody. personally i dont mainly listen to hip hop--only like 2 artists off def jux...cannibal o and el-p. thats it. but that dont mean anything. i enjoy the music just as much as someone who always got a hiphop disc in their cd player. as much as differnt types of music are lifestyles, to enjoy a type of music you dont have to be immersed in the lifestyle. i listen to the doors, the dead, dylan, nirvana, blind melon and shit that iceman would probably love to dis on. but i still like makin beats and free'in and i feel that just as much. music isnt about hate. dont dis kinds of music, cuz judgement is all opinion. and in response to atra, i dont think u need to be fully educated and know the history of a type of music to listen to it--u just have to like it and feel it, i understand if someone acts like they know all this shit and they dont....then thats stupid, but ne body could hear a song in their friends car and hook up on the internet and find out they really like an artist, without knowing shit about it. its about the MUSIC>>>>>
