every good rapper, mainstream or not, has his or her own rap qaulities which in some ones mind may be suitable to give them a spot in the top 5... but since i dont like comparing mainstream and underground, cos theyre heaps different, ill make 2 lists: mainstream: 1/ Pac 2/ biggie 3/ eminem 4/ nas 5/ jay-z OR rakim underground: 1/canibus (i hope he still counts as underground) 2/ copywrite 3/ aesop rock i cant really decide from the other underground ones.. most of them are equally dope in their own way and for those who put bow wow and nelly in there lists.... <rips hair out in fury>... |

its all about preference guys...some people may not know who Big L is and some may think chingy is dope..its all about personal preference thats all..so just becuz someone doesn't mention your top five don't mean they dont know shit about hip hop or rap music..it just simply means they prefer to listen to these particular artist and therefore consider them the best...
anyway on to my top five.. jay-z biggie nas andre "ice cold" 3000 pac these are my top five..some may consider them commercial some may think they are trash and some may agree wit me bottomline they are my personal favorite artist out |

1. 2 Pac-.....reason he was ill as fuck tha best ever....a genious at writin and makin songz......and i'm not one of those people that are just on his dick cuz he died.....he had ill ass lyrics could speak on real world shit and still use complex lyrics.....he was tha best songwriter ever.......every break through with lyrics that people use today he was tha one that started doing them with constistency from song to song and he went into tha studio with energy that that no one topped back then and that no one has topped even today...and if he was alive he would still be tha best..... 2. Eminem....i dont care what none of ya'll say this man is a genious at making rap music.....and he learned from pac what pac was doing with his lyrics and he took that and elevated it to a different level......he has tight flow tight lyrics and true songs and great albumz....and one of tha best songz to me eva was "Infinite" ..that shit was ill and since he went mainstram..he's only gettin better at makin music..........and if you dont agree with me i dont give a fuck....... 3.Biggie...reason had tha illest flow i ever heard had ill lyrics.....and made a huge impact on tha rap game and tha hip hop community around tha world.......had a presence on tha mic that just caught you no matta what you was doing........good ass storyteller also......and had one of tha best albumz ever with ready to die......and if he was alive he'd be one of tha best still.......... 4.Nas-..this emcee is great with his lyrics and has good flow and speakz real shit......his beatz are kinda lacking as of lately but he knowz how to spit to them and make em work.....i dont hold him as high as tha otherz i mentioned but he definitely in tha right place at #4................ 5.Rakim-.....for tha simple fact that he revolutionized rap with his punchlinez and tha shit he was saying back then that no one else was saying........he's one of th main figures in hip hop........people before him used some punchlinez but tha shit he was saying was just crazy ill.......and everyone after him that spitz punchlinez even all you muhfuckas that be spittin "Ill" punchlinez it is becuz this man back in tha oldschool dayz was spittin that shit first.......and brought rap music up to a whole different level.............
