Keyboards.. Hip Hop Beats?
 

I'm gonna get one for Christmas. . and I want to know what people think of them. Do you need to be able to play piano to make beats on a keyboard? And how do I know what sounds it has on it before I buy it? Obviously I'm not going to want a classical keyboard. . And how long does it take to make a well rounded beat? How much would I have to spend to buy a real nice one?

get a m-audio keyboard (just a controller) and get some softsynths like sampletank xl (comes with mpc2000xl instruments), gigastudio 96 or both.

askin how long it takes to make a beat is a useless question. however long it takes !!! OK SIR!
