Who Inspired you toward's Music?

I have about 3 people who have inspired me. The first ones where ' The Dark Man a.k.a DMX " .... and 2-pac.
You can feel there passion and emotion through there music. It just grabed me into it, and made me want to exress myself in the same way. Ever since about 1997 ' Nas ' has been doing the same that they have. I know alot of you might not like him, But I do. He is a very persuasive writer. Just like DMX, and 2-pac. No one will ever be able to make a copy of what they put out into the world. Even to this day they all make me want to be better. Even though they have inspired me so long.

-The Dark Man a.k.a DMX
-TuPac a.k.a Makiveli
-Nas a.k.a King Pin

I'm still pretty new to all of this, but... besides the usuals i'd have to say that Copywrite inspired me to try writing shit. Just cause he's got some sick punchlines and they get me laughing.

wogzta 12-07-03 01:47 AM

well ive pretty much had 3 influences...

1. Nas - inspired me to be poetic and think about each lines meaning before i write it
2. Eminem - to speak my mind and not only say things i wanna hear, not what everyone else wants
3. Canibus - he inspired me to try to make my lyrics as complicated as humanly possible, but to still have meaning...

i wrote my first rap when i was 8 - it stank. It was about how cool i was and how i shoot people. If it wasnt for these 3 and a few others like pac, aesop rock, DMX, cormega... i'd still be talking that crap

Big L, one i heard 98' freestyle, i luved rap lol. Then i just started spittin september 2003 cuz I was good at writin, and I was gettin into a lot of trouble wit fights so I just thought..
"Why fight when i can pick up a mic and make em feel so low dat they wanna kill themselves", den t-west was born. time for Canadian Hip-Hop to gain sum respect.

Emotion 12-07-03 05:31 AM

umm actually friends........And Canibus.........his lyrics are so good

£Ï£Šh€Ð€v¡£ 12-07-03 05:50 AM

tupac- he has a awsome style of hip hop, he rapped about everyday things and problems hes unique.
eminem-hes a truthful guy, raps about his life, tells the truth

thats basically it, i listened to tupac he was the first rapper i ever listened to..i prolly lived in a box...but hes the one that got me thinking about hip hop and to pick up a pen n try

pot1ent 12-07-03 06:13 AM

I was never hit by the 2pac boom.. When you say music.. It would have to be nirvana, green day, rage, metalica.. But since I only recently got into hip hop.. It was Eminem who inspired me.. You can laugh all you want.. But its got me this far.. But now I have to look else where for inspiration.. But he still holds all the elements to being the dopest.. So yeah.. he was the main one, XZibit was another, but i've gone of him alot.. I try to find any inspiration from whoever/wherever I can.. Anything I come across.. whether its wack or not.. It still inspires me.. Literally the most simplest or bizzare things inspire me..

Pz

£Ï£Šh€Ð€v¡£ 12-07-03 06:16 AM

mmm true, i was into nirvana

nah i think eminem is a pretty good inspiration though

LM 12-07-03 07:32 AM

The main ones who inspired me are:

2pac - the man,the myth, the legend....never let anythin stop him, great lyrics and albums.

Eminem - taught me to say what's on my mind and if people hate then it just gives me more to write about. Also told me to tell my stories in my open mics thats why I write bout my life and not make shit up

^^ They're the two main ones but also every artist who's been around for ages has influenced me. The likes of micheal jackson, madonna.....etc. I may not like their music but I got respect for them coz they've made it into the industry and stayed there. So I respect them as musicians.

menolin 12-07-03 08:51 AM

actually my first ever black friend, he had a talkboy, and a puff daddy and the bad boy family tape.
and i used to be laughed at by his brothers cos i tried to rap, and this was before eminem came out.
and after the talkboy sessions,

i then started to like
the fugees,
2 pac and biggie,
and then i just started buyin random rap records in the music shop, like naughty by nature, and thats how i discovered people like nas.

pot1ent- I feel you on that hommie. There are some very strong messages put out by rock. People arnt as good these days, but back then. They were all just incredable. People might trip on me about this, but... Billy Joel inspired me to bring a charm to my music. Somthing that grabs the ladies in... LOL ...He is a very good singer though, one of my favorite musicians of all time... But he is the only guy from any other type of music that has inspired me...

Michael Jackson...Fuck you, he has the industry on lock.
Nas inspired me the most, because after I heard Illmatic I just felt I had to write. Then would be Mobb Deep after hearing Hell on Earth and The Infamous. I got into some underground but after listening to Aesop Rock's Labor Days, I've been going more into poetry. And I have to give some to Jay-Z because people think he's no good, but He has alot of punches and soo many metaphors, but doesn't get respect because they are mostly implied and his songs have catchy choruses.

<BTY> 12-07-03 07:13 PM

The people in the enviroment that i grew up with inspired my taste of music of the art of rap/ hardcore rap music

wogzta 12-08-03 04:12 AM

The first rap song I ever heard was "Hit Em Up"

you can imagine me at 8 years old:

"OMG this guy swears so much. Hes cool. So gangsta."

So if it wasnt for 2pacs unrelenting hatred towards others, I wouldnt even listen to rap. Hate = prosperity :D

C-Section 12-08-03 09:38 AM

this thread is played,

rakim, ive said it in ever other thread like this.....

Gunman tha Great 12-08-03 10:03 AM

I was born and boom i liked hiphop, but when i heard "microphone fiend" by Rakim i damn near died, so i wrote some bullshit down and thought it was dope.

I got about 4 different styles so about 12 people influenced me

Sometimes i'll spit a multi syllable fast type shit-Twista,Bone,and Trigga Treach, and Pun inspired me to do that, and that "bombs over bahgdad" song by Outkast

The witty wordplay shit is what i do mostly-Jay Z,Nas,Treach (again) inspired me 2 do that

the multi worded shit ending wit a dope ass punch or ending-Canibus,Rass Kass,Chino XL

Knowledge shit (if you can't do knowledge shit then u suck) wit vocab-Canibus,Pac,Jay,Rakim,Nas,and now Kweli

CALYPSO 12-08-03 04:14 PM

my boy got me rapping, but the song that got me wanting to rap is rabbit run, off 8 mile, and go to sleep off from the soundtrack of cradle to the grave, eminem inspired me to rap the most.

Rap and hip-hop music in general made a connection with me. I can't give such credit to one artist in particular.

big l, eminem, listening to soundbombing and lyricist lounge, not to mention so many people in high school used to cypher and shit in the hallways........................to hard to pin it to one thing.........

.:LadySage:. 12-10-03 07:34 PM

I pretty much came out the womb listening to music. That real, old, soul stuff. Motown, Teddy P., Aretha... all that. Everywhere I went had music, and it stuck on me. I can remember when I'd be in the car singing all the songs on the radio, and my older cousins always talking about it. Now I can't do anything without music, it's my passion.
But just the real artists, the real music.

Kwizikal P 12-11-03 06:39 AM

the main rappers ever....pac biggie,L etc......but really, I started cos I was pissed off by the same old shgit

Da NFamous 12-11-03 05:23 PM

Honestly I've already been into hip hop cause i grew up in the heart of Queens and my older brother (r.i.p) and my older cousins who was kinda big on the block showed me some good music, I think the first big musical influence on me was the Fugges-The Score, that was the first album i heard i thought was incredible, so one day im listening to it in my brothers stereo when he comes home and sees me, he grabs my headphones listens to a little bit of it and smiles, a few days later he gave me illmatic and thats when i started rapping, i think just last week i actually understood that whole album, so i gotta thank my brother for giving me illmatic, but Nas was always my biggest musical influence, The Fugees were for a few months when The Score dropped but its always been the one and only Nasty Nas, but now i also have to give Rakim HUGE props cause like someone else said Microphone Fiend was crazy (first song of his i heard) 1luv.
