Jay Z inviting everybody for hiphop roundtable

Jay Z and Dame Dash have invited hiphop artist from all over for a hiphop discussion to talk about the state of hiphop, and to debate over the 50 greatest emcees of all time. He has said that MTV and BET along with VH1 have all show interest in putting tha joint on television. His wishlist includes, Em,50,Irv,Dead Prez,Eric B and Rakim,Outkast,M.O.P.,Puffy,Snoop,The writer of XXL Yellow Nigg,Chuck D,Krs-One,and a list of others. If tha shit go down i'm watching it plain and simple,

C-Section 12-08-03 10:32 AM

eric b rakim krs and chuck d. yay. i also think mos def should be on that.

hopefully they point out how wack hip hop is right now. someone needs to, its getting rediculas real lyricist arent being heard but homos like lil john are platnium. something needs to change. its sad kids are going to grow up thinking chingy is the greatest in hip hop history....sad...my neice was singing lil bow wow the other day it pissed me off. so i took her in my room and made her listen to rakim.

and maybe dead prez will be racist towards eminem that would be funny.

Bring everybody that has beef, so that it can end because it is mindless.

Dappa Rappa 12-08-03 11:18 AM

Stick DMX in that list and you have got yourself a riot

LM 12-08-03 11:41 AM

I think he should stick ja and benzino in there so they can bitch with eminem and 50.....should be funny

2hOt4tV 12-08-03 01:50 PM

IF X AINT THERE THEM THATS NOT HIP HOP

LM 12-08-03 03:57 PM

Yeah I agree DMX should be there. But the person who am shocked isnt on the list is Russell Simmons. It seems a bit obvious that he should be there

Man fuck that shit. I think the I dea is sound, but you can't hate on the shape of hip hop as it is today because hip hop has changed. In the late eighties to early nineties, hip hop was in it's true form. The art of it was the subject of everyone's focus and the competition of it all kept people interested. But now the game has changed.

Sort of.......

You see the industry itself is powered and run by the people that listen to it. There is no such thing as the labels saying what is in and what is out. There never has been. The labels are focused on money. Everybody talking all this shit about how hip hop is all commercialized but half of you are much too young to remember whem it wasn't. The reason being for that is, when hip hop was underground, you would have to be from an urban area to see it.
There was no billboards or video's or nothing like that.

The hip hop that today's backpack rapper idolize; Afrikka Bambatta, Rakim, Russel Simmons even, all are the commercialized versions of the beggining era. The heads that are older than us know this. They took hip hop away from the underground in 1990. Hip hop is the music of the street. Period. There ain't no such thing as not being hip hop because you rap a certatin way or you like a certain group. Because you have to remeber. SOMEONE TOLD YOU THAT HIP HOP WAS PLAYED.
All this shit you cat's is poppin you read in a mag cause none of you were there to experience the early stages when the shit was real. Hip Hop is about money, it always has been. Because it ttok the money of those label execs to bring the shit to the light. And when there is money involved that is the only thing that holds weight. If it makes money, it's hip hop. Other wise they wouldn't have the cash to put hte shit on T.v. right in your home. The people with the money control HIP HOP. We conrol wat makes money.

Think about it.....

Pr0phiX 12-08-03 05:46 PM

should be a round table of RAP nor hiphop.....

MuhThugga 12-08-03 06:09 PM

I hope they realize that Joseph Simmons (Run) and Darryl McDaniels (DMC) of RUN DMC didn't go with Jam Master Jay.....

Mos Def should be there, too......

Dead Prez is racist as fuck........

and I think Co Flow and Cann Ox and Common should also be there....but you know.....Cann Ox and Co Flow probably won't happen......but El-P should be there at least.....

Because if you think about it....if you don't get at least some heads from the underground like Living Legends people (Murs) or Heiroglyphics (Del) then it is just going to be a big commercialized promotion of artists saying shit is going good.....

It would almost be like grouping a bunch of your friends together to vote on your battle......You KNOW the outcome.....

wogzta 12-09-03 03:16 AM

^ word

they should have nas there too... but knowing jay-z that wont happen

canibus would be good too

Kwizikal P 12-09-03 04:57 AM

wanna see that....see Irv get bitch slapped by 50....
Nah, seroiusly,it'd be good tv

Emotion 12-09-03 05:00 AM

canibus have to go......

Gunman tha Great 12-09-03 10:23 AM

some reporter asked Jay if nas is invited Jay said "yeah sure but i doubt he'll come" which is true as fuck cuz Nas' ass is like a big kid and won't be able to look past his battle wit jay. Neef proof listen to his horrible song "quick to back down" I love Dead Prez. I doubt Chuck D would allow Irv and 50 or Ja and Em to fucking fight.Em and Irv have the upmost respect for Chuck D, whatever Chuck says, thats how tha shit is going down, i don't know if 50 got that kind of respect for him. The only thing that would keep this from happening is people wanna bring their fucking crews in and what not. He also said he wants Afrika Bambata,Kool Herc,LL,and tha Wu-Tang Clan. Ice Cube gotta be there in my opinion.

Johnny 6-feet 12-09-03 11:10 AM

i noticed nas' name wasn't on that list? havent those guys ended their beef yet?

Gunman tha Great 12-09-03 03:22 PM

obviously not since nas does verbal jabs at Jay on "Quick to back down" Jay doesn't say anything about nas on the black album.

Canuck 12-10-03 12:55 AM

I'm superised he never mentioned......Wyclef. I mean, he found Beyonce (Destiny's Child) and the Fugee's had MAD respect in tha industry cuz they blended so well, and put out a couple of real good hip hop albums.

Pr0phiX 12-10-03 01:19 AM

lol these are all going to be opinionated

Da NFamous 12-10-03 10:06 PM

its only a wish list, if i remember correctly Jay's wishlist for the BA included an appearance by Nas as well as productions by Sallam Remi, Premiere, and only 12 tracks with 12 different produceers, as if Irv is really goin without Ja wit 50 and Em there (If he goes at all, i doubt it) and Nas isnt going on some pride shit prob, think if u had a whole big beef like that would u want that nigga to be the one to reach out? then he gets the props, same reason 50 aint talk to Farrakahn wit Ja, 1uv.
