Can there really be only one best rapper?
 

I was just thinking to myself... I always considered 2pac as the best rapper. But then I thought "Why?" and I came to a realization that the main reason I thought that was cos everyone else did. So I searched a bit and found out that his meaning, delivery and passion was the main reason people said he was the best. Lyrically, he is above average, with consistent multi's (althought they arent too complex) and poetic elements.

But then I thought, what if to someone else, lyrics meant everything? To them Canibus, Rakim or Nas could be the best. What if they thought flow was the most important? Then Jay-Z or Biggie might be the best for them. What if they found relevance the most vital? Then Public Enemy or Immortal Technique could be their choice of "the best".

I came to the conclusion that all good rappers have their own qualities which could potentially make them "the best rapper"... and that it all mattered on your personal taste.

What do you guys think?

No one rapper in my opinon can be dope at everything...i mean, everyone has there personal qualities, but no one rapper can be tight in every aspect.

2pac as you said was a dope rapper, his message was probably the realest ever, however his rhymes were awful simplistic but remember that he wrote that shit nearly 10 years ago, rap dramatically has changed since then.. we now are more concered with vocab n' shit...wherea "back in the day" it was the gritty n' real message that he was tryin' to put it...

Well...I look at it like this...

Hip Hop has divisions, U got Gangsta, Chilled, Parliment (Pollitical), Spoken Word (It is diffirent to pollitical), Intelligence, Abstract, Own Beliefs (I mean dead prez is allot pollitical, but they have other, deeper beliefs), Comercial and Jazz...

There is no MC on earth that is all of those.. I mean 'Pac was maybe 2 or 3 of them, Nas is allso...Em is the same...Aesop allso, Jehst, Canibus and dead prez....

So, i look at it like this... U have maybe 5 to 6 MC's who are the best, But only at that present in time though...
I mean oppinions change..!!!

I think the best rapper comes down to personal opinions. My favourite is pac but another person will say pac is shite and nas is the best.

Most of you cat's talking this crap is just as old as me, or a bit older, or a bit younger, and probably havent even heared a tenth of what the man released. 2-Pac was not the illest Rapper, he was just a good one, that made money and was too stupid to get up out the Ghetto while the getting was good. Thats the problem with most of them..he was just a casualty, I aint hating on the man, I listen to his sheit all the time.
As for there being a baddest MC there cant be one, cause each one elavates the level for the next, if you asked me a year ago, I would have said Bone Thugs straight up because of there complexity and rhymes, but if you ask me now Ill say "I DONT CARE"

yea if everyone rapped about the same stuff. the same life. but we all have different things to rap about so noone can be better at rapping your story. noone can be better at being you then yourself.

well iwaz thinkin bout it and i think thur cood be more than 1 best rapper im wit tupac he waz at least 2 of those but like the best rapper 2day that possses the most of those i probly eminem cuz sum of his songs have flow where the song when the song neeeds flow so other songs got lyrics sum are jus dissin and so on all the rappers had qaulities that they show more in different songs latly it seems the rappers are droppin the illness like the newest songs arent as good as ther newest song from last year

Theirs Not Such Thing As The "Best Rapper". Their Never Was One, And Never Will Be One. It's All A Matter Of Opinion, Alot Of Cats Think That Tupac Shakur Was The "Best Rapper". Others Think It's Biggie,Nas,Rakim And So One..But It's Just A Matter Of Opinion.Their Can't Really Be A "Best Rapper".

ok this is how I see it..

No one rapper can be the BEST..but there are rappers that can be good at every part of rap.....I only have seen one though, and in my opinion it's Tech N9ne..that's why I talk about the dude so much...he's got the best flow of any rapper, pretty damn good lyrics, a pretty good resume (has collabed with Tupac, and with a shitload of other lyrical legends on 'the anthem', is gettin on tv now) but he's not too mainstreme....

but I know people who just don't feel his shit for some reason..to them maybe someone else is the best at everything...who knows...that's why no ONE rapper can be the best b/c not everyone is gonna feel him...
