Just copped a new guitar amp

thought I would share.

Brand and model?

J. Luth 01-13-10 09:45 PM

Line 6 Spider IV 15watt

http://line6.com/spideriv15/

and I got the foot pedal that works with it.

Ran me for $200. Not bad. Saving up money to get the Seagull acoustic during the summer.

But yo dudeee, hit me up on MSN when you not busy. I need to hit up someone knowledgeable about the guitar. word

J. Luth 01-13-10 09:46 PM

I just messed with it for a quick 30 mins and I already love it because the shitty amp I had first had that noise you know when you plug in? like a LOUD buzzing or humming noise. While this one I play and it has none of that. If that makes any sense.

Shit I had before was the Epiphone Studio 15r that came with the combo pack when I got my Epiphone SG400.

Adam 01-13-10 10:21 PM

Lol @ combo packs, word. I don't know if I've ever heard a good Epiphone amp before. Line 6 makes some pretty good products, the guitar player in my old band used one. It was more along the $1500 price range but it had a pretty good quality sound. Seagull guitar eh? Canadian models.. random choice, but that's cool, they're nice guitars. I'm playing a Fender acoustic right now but lately I've been looking into Takamine, I've loved the feel of everyone that I've picked up.

Ltizzle 01-13-10 10:25 PM

I've worked with that pedal before and really enjoyed it, Line 6 is generally pretty good.

Adam 01-13-10 10:40 PM

If you have an extra $35,000 sitting around.

J. Luth 01-13-10 10:53 PM

LOL @ extra $35,000.

and yeah, I just got the 15watt one because I really don't plan on playing in a band. I just play as hobby and probably at parties, and just cover songs really. But yeah, I was first going for a marshall amp, but the guitar center guys told me the Line6 is better and cheaper in their opinion. Plus, it's the most popular at their store. Had a lot more features too.

As for Seagull, i was told a good acoustic to start off with was the Epiphone or Yamaha which both were $199 or the Seagull which was $315. HOWEVER, I play lefty. No lefty for epiphone, and yamaha was 280 lefty, and Seagull was $415 lefty.

I heard the guy play on the Seagull and I don't know, I really liked the sound quality.

it just sucks trying to find left handed guitars. Small selection. And if you find one, it's like $100 more expensive because it's a lefty. haterssss

And word Tizz. I hope it is. I haven't plugged it in yet and messed around with it. So far just messing around with the amp, and I love it.

Here's my Fender and my friends Takamine. We decided to get drunk at one of our gigs and end the set with the dumbest shit, it was rad.

I don't like Marshall amps, if I was going to get a really good amp it'd be an Orange.

word good shit.

How much the Fender cost?

But word, how long it usually take before you can start playing chords without looking? I can pretty much switch quickly between chords finally, but besides G, C, D and Em I can't really switch without looking down.

as a result i can't even play standing up. Gayyyyyyy

^shit i did like a month ago. Guitar was maddd out of tune tho. And I messed up in few parts. But only vid i got lol

Adam 01-13-10 11:23 PM

That Fender was just over 400. We were just fucking around in that video.. I actually drum and sing back up. It was a special occasion when we busted that out.

Chords are simple man, you should be able to do your A, E and Am as well as the chords you listed along with sus variations of most of them.

Practice this thing called CAGE.. where you go from the chords C to A to G to E and just keep doing it. One strum or two strums, or 5 strums, whatever, start slow and speed it up so you can do it in one strum without looking repeatedly. Once you get your E down you can do Am easily it's just a down a string. When you get those basics down pat move on to your F and B and so forth..

Adam 01-13-10 11:31 PM

If you want to learn a song with some easy chord progression that will help you get a better feel for them because it's moderately slow chord changes and the ones you should be learning as a beginner you should sit down and practice Neil Young's "Heart of Gold." Once you get the chords down you can add the little riffs and the harmonica, but you don't have to.

J. Luth 01-13-10 11:41 PM

Shit yeah, I wanna learn drums after I get the guitar down.

But yeah, I feel you. Right now I can play C, D, G, E, Em, A, Am, then I don't know if I can play an F. I play it weird way, I don't know if it's even right.

I have my pointer finger on the 2nd fret of B string. Middle finger on 2nd fret of high E string. Ring finger on 3rd fret of G string and pinky on 4th fret of D string.

But Barre chords are a bitch. Most of the songs I want to learn involve them. Like seriously how the hell do you stretch your hand to play those shits? ughh.

but word I'ma give that CAGE thing a go. Because the B chord is tough for me too

word I'ma look that up.

Brown Eyed Girl is really easy too. It's just G, C, D, Em in different variations.

Any like electric rock songs that are easy? Because those two sound better on an acoustic or on the clean setting on Electric
