^ What he said ^

Word, that's true, when you hear yourself for the first time, its always awkward...My advice would be to work on your flow to beats and shit. I have a little lab in my fortress where I record and let my homeboys record, and most people that I listen to flow have trouble with tempo and making shit sound good. So just work on making your flows sound more harmonous and try sort of stretching words, almost as if you were singing, but just don't pull no Ja rule shit ;)

lol aiight, thanks for the advice, man.

yeah man HELLA cats dont like their voice at first... or at all... and frankly i think that is a good thing. a good sign that you want to improve.

try to do some compression on your vocals... and mess with shit like that. you will be happy with it!

really one of the best ways to help your voice out and vocal fluctuations is to freestyle as much as possible. and rap with some people that are pretty descent and get them to help you a little. because freestyling is all natural, you flow better this way and end up sounding good. you don't sound like a drone reading his lyrics off a computer screen. freestyle as much as possible, and then when you do go to spit your lyrics, memorize them first. this will help out a lot.

theres ways that you can add effects to your voice.. like if you have a high pitched voice and you want to sound deeper theres ways that you can add more depth to your voice.. also the same with a deep voice.. but i dont really like doing that cuz its not natural my advice would just be to work on your flow

I add a filter to my voice. Not for depth or for highs, but to give it a more studio sound, cause all I got is a computer mic, and I have to record in my car. I engineer my vocals a fair bit. But i ain't got money to be messin with expensive equipment. all the stuff i got i jacked, or picked up at wal-mart helaa cheap. it's not what you got, its how you use it....er.... ok - it's what you got AND how you use it.

Phenom-in-all 05-23-04 07:21 AM

I used to hate my voice too, but recently started liking my sound more and more. It's not your sound per say, but your comfortability with flow. As a rookie I was nervous on the mic, but freestylin brough confidence, and smoothness. I'm still not where I want to be, but I'm confident as a mofawka, and ready to battle.

Rule #1: Never be happy with your work. Production, writing, recording, anything. Thats the golden rule of improvement.

To Get More Studio Effect...

In order to get that "Studio Sound" You need to learn how to use Reverbs and master your music...I would suggest getting Cool Edit Pro, and learning the software...Use Sonar To Master...

yea, thanks for all the feedback. Yea, I showed some of my friends my audio stuff, and they said it was pretty good. So I feel much betta wit it. But I still want to make it better. Like where when you hear my audio, I want people to be able to tell it's me. In a good way, not a bad way, though. lol

Phenom-in-all 05-23-04 08:19 PM
