dumbing it down

is a sucky ass thing to have to fucking do...

I hate writing singles and songs where you wanna just rip loose on but you know that most people wont get it or your words will be too big..

everyones a fucking simplistic critic these days...

and being not melodic enough with big ass words aint gonna attract cd royalties no more... fucking limewire....

i love the question on soundclick about how you think the mp3 format and internet has changed or effected the music industry....

like fuck man....rub it in a bit...
the only real mass cd buying market is teenage girls these days... and when was the last time you met one of those with excelent taste in interlectual based music..

meh.. what can you do...

Its a digital world bro. In reality, money off Hip Hop CDs is a empty dream.

Dumbing it down is just a wise tactic if your tryna create a large fanbase of people you dont even like, and point the finger at for killing Hip Hop.
Im a emcee's emcee, so I just rap, i know for a fact you dont like the target audience your 'dumbing it down' for. So why make it for them? I understand raps a buisness and success comes by sacrifising certain aspects of your music at times. But is having a bunch a mindless idiots that follow the crowed become a fan of your music, really success, or just an adition to the problem?

Get a real job and make the music you wanna make.

Win-win situation.

^^^ good idea. or support yourself one some way before u establish yourself as a full fledge rapper. cuz if you aren't sucessfull in life already, what the fuck you gonna rap about. how shitty you think everyone and everything else is.

Now class, who would like to be the first to point of one of the many flaws in this statement?

you can dumb down the words and keep the message the same....easy listening is key in music as well as creativity, so sometimes be creative with words other times you can use less complex words to portray the same message...whats wrong with that?

I already came to grips with this problem

hope I succeed

good luck to you baphomet, hope you're a famous australian rapper some day, and soon

2v dont be Coy...

for real.. Nos can probly blow Down Under if he's spitting how he did on that collab verse.

and as for the dumb it down thing... dont man.... dont ever do that... you got vocab and intelectual shit to rap about ... thats what hip hop is... creative and a tool to reach the masses and effect them through your music... i think your fans who ever they are would agree that dumbing it down would negate your style.

just my 2cents

THAT shit is dumbed down... (and a bad quality recorded version to help me learn it for when i go into record with mules n the choose mics manager)

its like shit man I wanna rap about real shit.. but every time I do that its just too negative for people.. gotta have your shitty singles -_-

La Cosa Nostra 01-07-09 06:47 AM

nevermind assholes...

i fixed my lyrics and now its got some actual half decent content...

dumbing it down is no longer that much of a problem

fuck doing it on many tracks though

It's best not to dumb it down, just have the delivery, flow, and beat remain captivating enough to get the people who might not understand it's attention. I'm sure 60% of the people who saw the matrix didn't understand a shitload of the plot and dialogue, but the audience was entertained by the visuals and intense fight scenes. You just gotta apply that to your music. Dumbing yourself down never helps.

La Cosa Nostra 01-07-09 08:08 AM

Man I switched my shit up....

its just got good rhyming and normal ass 16 bar verse lyrics... but it sounds a lot better now... ready for studio...........

i couldn't understand what u were saying with your accent. but your flow was annoying and i didn't hear a single punchline. thats what i look for when i hear someone rapping, a clever line i'd wish i had made up, and if u have dope flow and multies leading up to it. makes it even better. but im just american

yo man dont listen to that version like its a song... the quality is really bad cause its a version just for me to learn the lyrics before i go into the studio to work with choose mics dj, hence being american your prolly gonna have a lot of trouble understanding it i didnt even sound proof at all for that vocal, all good ill be posting the proper version anyway once its done...

ive changed the lyrics a lot since then that problem you pointed out was actually why i wasnt liking it aswell... i tried to make it really simple and i realised a better way of doing simple.. and in some parts i just compleatly went fuck it and threw in some good lines especially in the second and third verse...

but your just american....
