∆ P E X X 09-27-06 03:42 PM

no, a laptop doesn't have phantom power.

TROUBLESOMEā„¢ 09-27-06 07:11 PM

phantom power is a completly difrent box altogther....my pre amp has phantom power//
but naw laptopz dont have that shit

M&rk 09-27-06 10:59 PM

how much is a pre-amp and what kind of connector do they take, from the mic to the amp

∆ P E X X 09-27-06 11:06 PM

you don't need a pre to get phantom power, you can just buy a phantom power supply for about $35.

and everything in the music world uses XLR cables.

M&rk 09-29-06 06:36 PM

but like some are usb and some have like 5 or 6 metal things to go into a pre amp and some are just like headphones and some have that thing over the head phonelookin thing that makes it fit into bigger plugs... and another quick question if someone gets it... when i mix my shit it makes like the right speaker or head phone louder than the left, how do i equalize that out?

TROUBLESOMEā„¢ 09-29-06 07:38 PM

equalize or normalize

M&rk 09-29-06 09:08 PM

ok when i normalize my vocals are fine, but when i add the beat everthing goes into the red and is too loud, even when i normalize the beat... how can i make the beat not make everything go into the red and sound like shit

∆ P E X X 09-29-06 09:49 PM

the obvious solution would be to try turning your volume down

M&rk 09-30-06 12:31 AM

but then the i'd have turn down both and the whole song would be akwardly quiet

∆ P E X X 09-30-06 04:38 PM

well if you're still clipping then the song is obviously louder than you think it is.

that's what happens when you have shitty gear, you can't hear things accurately

only other possibility is tht you flap your lips up against your mic when you spit which is gonna make it sound liek it's clipping at all times regardless, even if decibel wise it's not.

M&rk 09-30-06 05:38 PM

its soundin good now... idk what it was... but what is clipping?

∆ P E X X 09-30-06 06:11 PM

clipping is what you hear when you're being too loud on the mic. it sounds like distortion.
