A very POWERFUL scripture

The book of Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament was written by King Solomon, the wisest man whom ever lived.

This is an excerpt from the 8th chapter, verses 11-17 (CONTEMPIRARY ENGLISH VERSION)

I think it puts many conflicts into perspective.

Ecclesiates 8:11-17

11When we see criminals commit crime after crime without being punished, it makes us want to start a life of crime. 12They commit hundreds of crimes and live to a ripe old age, in spite of the saying: Everyone who lives right
and respects God

will prosper,

13but no one who sins

and rejects God

will prosper or live very long.

14There is something else that doesn't make sense to me. Good citizens are treated as criminals, while criminals are honored as though they were good citizens. 15So I think we should get as much out of life as we possibly can. There is nothing better than to enjoy our food and drink and to have a good time. Then we can make it through this troublesome life that God has given us here on earth.

16Day and night I went without sleep, trying to understand what goes on in this world. 17I saw everything God does, and I realized that no one can really understand what happens. We may be very wise, but no matter how much we try or how much we claim to know, we cannot understand it all.

Good...then, after they come up with it, I hope they live by it.

This translation is more coherent than it would normally be. I chose to post the C.E.V. version because of it's comon-language tone. Had I posted the King James Version, it'd be a bit more cryptic. The message, however, is profound and so true.

"People continue doing wrong because they don't see judgement right away."

^^Explains why people think they have no obligation to serve God.

yeh but one could argue that there actually is no judgement and you lot are making excuses by sayin the judgement is coming...just aintgot here yet

the argument is inconclusive cos nobody has been proven wrong or right yet...it's just what one choses to believe

like the glass being half empty or half full if you get me

^^Incorrect...Judgment DOES come...That's the point...It comes when you least expect it...Remember, we're talking about God's judgment here, not man's. Therefore, we all have to give an account of our words and deeds....Oh, here's another shocker. When the scripture here talks about judgment, it isn't even referring to the final judgment before the seat of Christ. It's talking about the here and now.

Trust me, those who do evil won't prosper long.
