Facts about making a hit song

The 2 BIGGEST things to know about making a hit song is
1st- the beat, the beat must be a beat people can bop too, it has to be good.
2nd- THE HOOK, if you got a good catchy hook everything else just falls into place. thats what people remember, your hook. .you hear some of the songs on the radio and the hook and beat are nice and you listen to the verse and it is the wackest shit you ever heard..cuz the ordinary customer/fan/listener doesn't break down lyrics like otha rappers do, they just look for shit to sound good (beat and hook) and dont really have a damn idea about what your spittin on the verse. . .i'm sure most of us know this and apply it, just a few tips for the people taking it serious and tryin 2 get their shit out...also know who your fans are...take LL Cool J for example, no homo but the man has a nice body and naturally the girls will be all over him so his money tracks are the tracks he makes for the ladies...the girls are the ones who go buy 2-3 copies of your shit at the store, us dudes go to the corner and would buy your shit for $5 from some random nigga....just know how to catch the attention of the people that would support you instead of just a general population...
GOOD DAY.

You forgot about the 100,000 dollar studio and the Promotion behind it, then again if you've been paying attention that kind of music has been falling off.

lmao thats just discouraging dog lol...what type of music you talkin about??? i just said know who your audience is, that was just an example. i was just talkin bout makin a hit song like important things to remember when you like draftin it up and shit lol, not production and all that shit...no doubt what you said is true tho, but if people like you enough that 100,000 or what ever money you have to pay gets lesser and lesser and lesser, sometimes if u get it good you can get free time...but thats all another story

No i mean you need 100,000 dollar studio for recording. It doesn't matter how well liked you are. Why do you think artists aren't selling as much? because no one knows there cds are out. This isn't the cd age anymore really this is the Mp3 age. SO you'd be spending millions on marketing and promotion if you wanted to sell a lot.

So basically, if I get 1000 downloads, that's the MP3 equivalent of outselling The Game?

YES!

OR you can skip that, get yourself a lil cardboard booth or vocal booth of some sort using your $200 mic, and record with that and send it off to Apex to mix for his cheaper price and have almost, if not the same, quality as a studio. save your self a load of G's

you forgot the most important part of making a hit....dont lie in it, make it believable...example if i did a young jeezy song...the same beat and quality and lyrics and all....wouldnt sell at all cuz i infact havent sold coke.....yep...fans like to believe that what they hear is the truth about the artist....so if you aint believable you aint gon make a hit song...never said it had to be true tho...just believable

i havent read the site... but hes right about girls being like the only true album buyers anymore... everytime its a girl who asks to BUY a cd of my music from me...... every guy always starts with askin if i can send them some music over the internet... or ask for me to just give them a CD.....

and most the people who visit my myspace alot and leave comments are always girls... that just may be because girls are more into the whole myspace thing, and actually use it more..... but w/e i just like the point he brought up about the females
