My Mic
Shure SM58
when i record the damn vocals are low as hell even when i yelled to see how high it would raise the DB scale it was shit..... could it be my cable? or do i need a new soundcard? |
well all you gotta do is turn up the gain and output on your pre-amp
he dont have a pre-amp
u dont need a preamp for the shure sm58 just in cool edit, up the volume,.... |
^^jea i do that but this ish is hella low
right click the speaker in your lower right hand corner of the screen... it will open your windows mixer settings, look for your mic in settings and turn them up until you get where you want... if you dont have a speaker down there go to start menu and go to the control panel and open it from there (Sounds and Devices.. Advanced).
i did all that shit, i put it all the way up and messed with all that
could it be my cable, cuz i read sometimes your cable can effect your mic volume and shit |
I suppose.... i dont record with the comp... so i really dont know... never had a problem with mic cables yet... good luck.
When you enter the volume settings click file, then click properties and make sure the recording button is checked, its different then the playback one.. Maybe yah recording volume is down in recording.. hit me back, if yah get know results
ya id like to kno to my mic is the same way....if i fix mine ill let ya kno how i did it
i alread did........ha fuckas
SM58 is gonna need a preamp. So will any mic worth it's money.
na you dont NEED a preamp just a good cable hoe.......
^^An SM58 without a preamp?? umm..if you say so. Only time I've ever seen any mid range to high end dynamic deliver without a pre-amp is with a purpose-built audiocard. Short of that, not once. They all needed preamps.
Sorry to say it man, but you NEED a preamp. Your mic will "work", but it will sound hella low, and quality won't be at it's peak. Here's why
Explaination of "What is Phantom power?": http://www.tangible-technology.com/...er_connect.html The Shure sm58 is a Dynamic mic so it doesn't "need" a preamp, but it's comparable to me, freakin my $5 cpu mic hella good, if you don't use one. SO... Get this: http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_...USB-main-1.html It's one of the best preamps for the dollar value, PLUS, it's got a USB connection for us cpu guys who mix via cool edit/cubase/acid/etc, rather than a mixing board. On M-Audio's site it's $179.00, but I looked on ebay and you can buy it now for $149. Or you can even bid at a lower cost. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...7313640741&rd=1 ....your welcome. 1 |
lol thanks, i'll look into that
