Counsel and friends for rapper Cassidy are offering that the rapper is innocent after being arrested for the murder of a Philadelphia man. The Philadelphia Daily News interviewed Cassidy's friend, Kyle Key, and he said the street persona isn’t real. ”He ain't no murderer. He is a rapper," Key said. Cassidy’s lawyer echoed those sentiments. Lawyer Michael Giampietro said, “He wasn't involved in the shooting.”

According to police, Cassidy is one of three triggermen that shot up a parked car that contained three occupants. Reports suggest strongly that there was a verbal altercation that preceded the gunfight, which resulted in the April 15 death of Desmond Hawkins.
