Freeway - Free At Last

Record Label: Def Jam/Rocafella Records
Featured Artists: Scarface, Jay-Z , Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss,Rick Ross

It’s refreshing to finally listen to a diverse album like Free At Last. The most underrated emcee in the game is back at it after four years since his debut Philadelphia Freeway. The highly energetic flow is throughout the album with “When They Remember” and “It’s Over.”

Far from a classic, Free At Last is among a few outstanding yet underrated albums of the year (Cassidy’s B.A.R.S. is very underrated). Freeway shows raw emotion throughout the album with “I Cry” as he almost breaks down to cry as he names everyone in his life that has passed away.

El Presidente Jay-Z is featured on the album as well and gives nothing but quotable sixteens on “Roc-A-Fella Billionaires” yet he is the only one on the track to live up to the title. The soulful yet therapeutic song “This Can’t Be Real” featuring Marsha Ambrosius (formerly of Floetry) is one of the best tracks on Free At Last. Free reminisces of getting signed to the Roc and how his grind never ceased. Do not count out Freeway as one of the best artists on Roc-A-Fella he embodies the ambition of a hungry emcee on a rise.

Freeway falls short on one song with an unlikely feature by 50 Cent on “Take It To The Top” as the South-Side Jamaica Queens rapper sings giving a 21-Questions-eque hook to the track.

“Reppin’ the Streets” is a laid back ode to the hood that shaped him into what he is now from having no name brand clothes to long white tees and selling drugs. The flow-tasic “Baby Don’t Do It” features Houston’s own Scarface that adds his own swag that he’s famous in doing.

Aspiring rappers need to take notes on Freeway’s flow and energy. The bearded emcee doesn’t disappoint with Free At Last and illustrates the grind and lyricism rappers need to have for longevity in this unstable industry.

Freeway brings nothing but fire and flow with “Walk With Me” that features the best rappers to link up with Free. Busta Rhymes and Jadakiss both bring the truth to your eardrums on “Walk With Me”.

Go cop Free At Last, the 14-track album proves that Hip-Hop is alive and well. If you want flow, energy and truthful lyrics then Freeway delivers that to your eardrums. The four-year hiatus has seasoned Freeway as an ever-developing emcee.

How can you leave out "It's over" Track is the buttery hottness.

so freeway is actually good? I thought he sucked? He got killed in the battle against cassidy and he was wack in the few songs ive heard him in...

Blackmage 04-09-08 09:52 PM

Wow nah listen to hot 97 he shits, he shits on art and life. The battle against cassidy was more of a fluke. I'm not saying he would've won but he normally shits on freestyles which is why he kept saying put on a beat. Him and siegel shit on freestyles.

JTR 04-11-08 12:48 PM

He would never beat Cass though, not cuz he's not as good of a rapper or anything, but because he's not as good as a battler, ya digg

Ysdat 04-11-08 10:52 PM

Freeway>Cassidy

JTR 04-11-08 11:53 PM

not in battles lol

Ysdat 04-12-08 01:10 AM

Songs>battles .

Blackmage 04-12-08 04:22 PM

Both are dope at rapping but neither is a very good song writer. That's there main problems. Cassidy is a better battler. Freeway is a better freestyler. Therefore

Freeway=Cassidy.

All i was saying was he's not wack. I didn't say he would beat cassidy.

JTR 04-12-08 08:37 PM

well freeway was prolly actually freestyling cas had all written shit, but yea..

Cassidy only good song is Ima Hustla and a few others lol

Blackmage 04-14-08 01:48 PM

Let's see...

Hit the road, New jack city, Blood pressure, All his Cd intros for i'm a hustla up, 6 minutes, c bonics, 10 minute heavy hitter freestyle, Cassidy vs. jinn, his new cd is like a 5 at best though...

^^^Cassidy Collection. Excluding all his wack ass soft singles like hotel, etc.

hotel was a good song man, you can't just disregard shit cuz it doesn't appeal to you

I don't personally like it and I won't listen to it at all, but it wasn't really a song made for me, it was made for the ladies, and the ladies like that song.

I know you can say well what about Soulja Boy as an arguement, but I mean like... it's not as bad as Soulja Boy or anything, just not a song for dudes like us

yea know

Blackmage 04-18-08 02:20 AM

I spose it was a good club song but i can call it wack cause i think it's wack. I never attempt to speak for other people i speak solely from my own point of view.

JTR 04-18-08 05:50 PM
