Young Kidd (LM) 02-08-08 04:23 PM

lol. thats what i meant by general advice.

i dont know much at all.
im saying. if a dude come up to you. and say. hey. what's some starter advice you would give me if im just now startin to use fruity loops. like what would you tell me. you know.

G-MO 05-13-08 05:46 PM

start off by keeping your drums in 4 bars. Its basic, and straight to the point. Most famosuly Dr.Dre only uses 4 bars for his drums, its the arrangment that matters most.
The count for the bars........example 4 bars
1 and 2 and 3 and four and
repeat. try it out while listening to your favorite beats and producers and check placement with the drums on the bars. this should help you get a very solid foundation for just your drums. Then comes layering, ghost notes and EQing.
Hope this helps.

G-MO 05-13-08 05:47 PM

Also, what are you using to produce your shit? this will help us on giving you advice geared toward what you have

WhoAmI 05-13-08 06:14 PM

if you are gonna follow g-mo's advice on listening to producers then do not listen to hi tek cos his drums aren't usually arranged in a simple way
