get a nice soundcard, and a nice condensor mic...

cheap but affective shit...

Hardware:

RODE NT1 Condensor Mic...about $200
SoundBlaster Live Soundcard...about $50
Behringer Eurorack UB1002 Mixer...about $60
(^Comes with phantom power for your mic)

Software: (Downlaod These)

Cool Edit Pro 2.0
^^Make sure the register key comes with the download, heres the information to use when you register the program:

Antares Mic Modeler

That list should suffice pretty well. The rest is up to your ears...

In cool edit...do this technique to your vocals:

1. record
2. normalize to 95% (not decibles, use percentages)
3. parametric equalizer (mess around with it till you gtet clear vocals)
4. noise reduction
5. dynamics processing; very fast attack, 4:1, -24db
6. normalize to 100%

That should help you out until you get the cash to go all out and get a pro studio in yuor basement.

-you're welcome-

If you want to produce beats...get a $100 beat machine, and a $200 keyboard (The DJX 2 is a good candidate)...get an MIDI cable, and a program like Reason, if you take your time to learn, you can do it in cool edit.

do not waste 100 dollars on a beat machine then get Reason

you will not use the 100 dollar beat machine at all... 100 dollar beat machines are worthless.

your better off getting Fruity Loops Studio or Reason, and buying some 20 dollar sample cds....

infintely better than some 100 dollar beat machine.

^i got a condensor/preamp... behringer preamp works fine.......... but anyways what kinda mixer should i get?

Syntax Mastery 11-25-03 07:04 PM

behringer's work fine yes... but compare them to other brands that cost 20 dollars more...

anyway...

i say... if your not recording a drum kit, or a band... dont get a mixer.. get just a mic preamp...

and if you already have a preamp...why would you want a mixer?

actually some old computers have a modem and sound card on the same PCI card. I don't think anyone makes those cards anymore tho.
