i need your guys knowledge

im not tring to have a profesional studio(yet), all i want to do right now is record some tracks at home, so i could get everything perfected the way i want it before i go to the studio to record it(saves time/money ) but i also want it to have good quality so i could put up some of my audios here, and people dont have to listen to a song that sounds like shit because of the quality.

so i need your help and opinion on a few things.

for christmas, i got a Unidirectional Dynamic Mic and a smm-1750 mixer the guy at radioshack told my mom, that thats pretty much all i needed and that they are both high quality. in understand condencer mics are better but for now im just working with this.

do you guys know anything about them? are they really high quality like he said? will it work good for what i wanted to do?

and am i going to need anything else to record, or do i have everything i need? other then programs like pro tools, or acid pro, or anything like that, right now im just talking about the equipment i need.

i hope i explained everything good enough for you guys to understand.

and the duce(what ever your name is) ive read your posts in this forum, so im telling you ahead of time shut up, you reply to every thread with your ego bullshit acting like everyone is a professional audio person. if that wa the case they wouldnt be in the AUDIO HELP FORUM, so before you reply to this with your "i know more then everone attitude" shut up, dont reply unless your going to help.

WTF is that mixer and talkin shyt.. no I try to help unless people as fuckin stupid questions cauz a stupid question gets a stup'd answer strait up. If people went and read some threads or books before they ask dumb questions I would not get fustrated with dumb fuckers. Shit I dont know everything and never claim too.

Ok about your stuff the mic is not as bad as what your "mixer" is, shit that is not even a real mixer its trash I know cauz i have looked at it. the best Advise i could give is get the book Modern Recording technques and read it cover to cover a few times and under stand everything in it. then use that information and find spafic topics that you want to learn more about and serch for them online. This will give you a basiss of information and will put you ahead of 90% of the people on the net strait off. Most dont know shit but to push the record button and the stop button.

Ok and I give attidue because people who have not even tryed to learn anything. come on asking moron questions... that is fuckin pointless. and as far as my ego goes yes I have one. GOt a problem wit it... oh well... dont give a fuck. and I know what Im talkin about and most people have enough comon sence to lissin to what I have to say about there quality and information about this stuff. shit man Im being concederd for a composing job for a movie. So grow the fuck up and suck it up. and stop asking dumb questions about shit that is not even for recording.

let me make this simple. u dont need a mixer at all. take the mic and mixer back. You want to get a condensor mic (even a cheap MXL990 will be far good enough for what u need). And get an omni studio. its a sound card and preamp in one. Also get decent mic cable and a pop filter and mic stand.

the omni studio is about $300 but WELL worth the price. If you really cant afford it then your going to need to buy a sound card and a preamp. you DO NOT want to use your stock sound card. you will need either a Delta 44 or 66, or an Audigy 2 Platinum. Regardless, your going to spend about $400 for a decent setup.

but u do not want to use that mic, and u especially dont want that mixer. This is coming from someone that has been there. Take the shit back now while u still can. The very cheapest setup you want to get is the omni studio and MXL990 mic.

whatever u get, make sure u get a tripod mic stand and a pop filter. and whatever u do, dont be cheap about the preamp. its the most important piece.

btw, duce is really right. most people come in here askin the same shit over and over. matter of fact, u couldve found this information if u searched for it in here. it might not seem like a big deal but after answering the same question 3 times a day, it starts to piss you off.
