ok lets see...

1. you need a pre-amp if your getting that condensor mic...better yet if you get a condensor mic period your gonna need phantom power aka a pre-amp.

2. you will need 2 cables, there is a imput and output on the pre-amp, you plug the cable that leads from your mic to input. so you will need a cable with male and femal XLR connectors. this cable goes from your mic to the input. now you need a 1/4"-1/8" cable (1/4" connecter on one end- 1/8" connector on the other) this will plug into the output directly into the microphone jack of your laptop

hope that helped

If you're looking to do it under $150, radioshack is your only hope. jsut get any mic from there (snice they're dman near all the same) and but a 1/4" to 1/8" reducer. That's abotu as far as you can get for 150. Or just buy a Shure SM58 which is a step above radioshack, but still gonna sound liek ass.

New Meth0d 08-01-05 05:02 PM

honestly if you know how to work cool edit and download some plugins you can get your songs (quality) to sound like someone who has a $400 set-up...or something close.

oh yea and download t-racks its like a nice little mastering program...just make sure your .wavs are under -2db

American Tiger 08-01-05 05:17 PM

shit....

I had top quality outta a socom navy seal ps2 headset for a good 6 months.

^^^^sound like ass compared to a 200-300 dollar mic...maybe

but...c'mon...kid really shud be concerned with mixing and editing...cuz even with a 400 mic, his vocals can still sound like shit if he doesn't know what da fuck he's doin in mixing/editing process

and I agree with New Method...get Antares Mic Modeler

fug wut u heard

yeah, I agree with thta - but check it, its liek this: Software won;t make a $50 mic sound liek a 400 dollar mic. at most it'll make it sound liek a $50 mic. However ,software on a $400 mic will make it soudn liek a $400 mic...istead of a $50 mic.

You cna get a $70 mic that sounds liek a $400 mic righout otta the box though. it's called the MXL 990 ;)

the software can let u choose a mic that creates a sound right for ur voice...I got my shit set to the AKG right now

but...in a coupe weeks, Imma have a Real AKG and my quality will go up cuz it is a better mic and I won't have to do as much processing of the vocals

But...I still stick by what I and New Method said, master mixing and editing technique before relying upon a 400 mic to boost quality, because it won't necessarily.
