Active VS Passive monitors

in a couple months i may be upgrading my monitors

i currently own a pair of phonic p6a monitors

which monitors do you think i should get, my next limit for monitors will be in the region of £300...

and should i bother with passive monitors or should i stick with active monitors like i've been using for the last couple years.

depends on your amp, but i prefer active, not yet another device that needs babysitting and another device reliant on your chain.

active monitors think for them selves lol. theres some parts of the chain i'd like to be independant instead of dependant. Monitors are one of them.

you got a sub yet?

my sub is gonna be the next thing i get after i buy my mpc 2500

cos at the moment i can go to my brother's place and use his setup for mixing down because he has a sub so my low end is tight without me having to break the bank. but i wanna be 100% independent of my brother's equipment hence me building up my home studio

i was actually thinking of getting a pair of p8a's because they are the ones above mine and i have had no complaints about them, but every set of monitors has limitations that some monitors in a higher price bracket surpass for real

man honestly, im more than pleased with my Event TR8s but that's probably way out of your price range. but everybody's got their favorite that they swear by. I personally dont like any monitors that flavor the sound. i want the truth, you don't have to sweeten the mix, cuz that means that mix is only gonna soudn that sweet, through my chain, and that's useless.

hmm i was probably looking to spend about £100 less for my next monitors but i don't really mind raising my budget, but i have to listen to them and see if i like them

well, they're honest. im sure you can find lots of monitors that are going to color your shit the way you want, and that will make you think they're better, but the reality is the honest gear is the best thing for you.

yeh definitely thas why i don't mind stretching my budget for good monitors, cos they are too important to overlook when i'm mixing

true. thats the point of monitoring to begin with lol. now listening for your own entertainment, thats another story lol
