JR Writer - History In Tha Making

Yeah i copped this shit today
lemme put you up on it...

1. To Be A Diplomat - Hot intro, the beat has a heroic feel to it for some reason [im thinking because of the horns]. Pretty much JR spits about his come up in tha game. Im feelin it. 8/10

2. My Life - This track sounds like a classic Dipset track... almost like it should have been on diplomatic immunity 1. Once again Writer spits about his come up in the game. almost like a story of his struggles and triumphs. 9/10

3. Take Notes - JR pretty much schools everyone on this track. Fuckin hot, tha beat is ILL AS FUCK. The verses are ILL AS FUCK. I'm lovin' this track! 10/10

4. Grill' Em Remix * - Ay im sure 90% of yall niggas heard this awready. Very hot track, the beat is off tha chain. Cam's verse is like anyother cam verse. Rell spits hard as fuck, like always. Writer kills tha track, like always. Solid track no doubt. *for some reason i only got the remix when i DL it 9/10

5. On The Block [Interlude] - Niggas goin off about how cold Writer is...

6. Back Wit It - Tha hardest beat of '06. I swear to god tha minute you hear tha beat you will fall in love. And on tha reals, this nigga does have bars for dayssss. This track is cold as fuck, im lovin it! 10/10

7. Goonies - This track is a hustler's anthem no doubt. The combo of Writer, Rell, and Jimmy on tha track is ill. Jones sand Rell sound grimey AS FUCK on tha track. And you already know Writer is spittin fire on tha track! 9/10

8. He's Movin - Basically JR goes off on tha track, tha beat is nice, but no way tha best on tha album. This is a solid track, deffinately grows on ya. 8/10

9. Riot Pump - idk what to call tha sample is on tha beginning of tha track is, but i love it. Its not like original because i have heard it before, but i still love it. This track has tha Same vibe as Grill'em, if you ask me. 8.5/10

10. Byrd Call - I'm sure everyone has heard this track aswell, tha first single off tha album... Tha chorus on this track is ill as fuck, im lovin tha track. It is up beat, but still goes hard as fuck! 9/10

11. Xtacy - To be honest im not sure why Nicole Wray is on this track, i mean all she does is add background bullshit, just hummin and shit. This track isnt thrilling, but if you listen to tha lyrics i guarantee it grows on you. 8/10

12. Pay Homage - this track is cold as fuck, tha beat has a slow tempo... so 40 and JR slowed their flow to fit perfectly. They both go hard as fuck.. and tha chorus is ill! 9/10

13. Zoolander - I think they were going for a jungle feel on tha beat : / . to be honest, im not 100% sold on this track. I mean Writer spits ok on tha track, none of tha lines really caught my ear or stood out... 7.5/10

14. Put You On - From tha minute tha beat drops, Writer straight kills tha track. Speakin on his ways as a young'n , you can feel he put heart in this track. 10/10

15. High Music - ummm this beat is kinda fruitie... not really feelin it. Tha flow is ok i mean its not terrible but its not great... 7/10

16. Why Try - Ay im feelin how SAS sounds on this track, im usually not feelin that UK sound. But SAS sounds ill as fuck on tha chorus and their verse is fresh too. Writer doesnt spit too much on tha track, i felt SAS' presence way more, still solid... 8/10

17. Stomp - Ay im lovin this beat, its versatile, it could be used for a club banger, or a diss track. And needless to say, Writer goes hard... AS FUCK.. 9.5/10

18. Thats A Bet - This beat is like East Meets South ...This collab is ILL... Paul Wall doesnt spit anything spectacular but he still sounds cold as fuck on tha track. In verse 1, im feelin how JR spits it... he comes out soundin ILL, but then he switches his flow up and just KILLS IT! 9.5/10

19. Tha Heist - Tha title is self-explanatory... a story track, somewhat, about a stick-up. I love how JR lays it out. from top to bottom this track is a solid 9/10

SUM-UP:
Ok after listening to this CD multiple times and laying out my review. I have come to tha conclusion that this album is... ILL AS FUCK. Deffinately worth a buy, for all of you rap heads who think tha game's lyrics have gone garbage with all these commercial rappers these days, yall are in for a pleasant suprise. Well not really a suprise, because JR Writer has been spittin ILL lyrics for a minute. This album is deffinately worth getting, whether it be buying, copying, or downloading... GET IT!

Sounds like a solid album but I dunno who sells Dipset CD's and I don't use Limewire or Frostwire or anything like that seeing as I had to pay $100 last time because of it...

But it sounds real cool so if I see it somewhere, I might get it.

Oh yeah, and great review.

Zone Out 09-04-06 02:44 AM

I also BOUGHT the album and my point is quite different. Im a dipset fan and most defiantly a jr writer fan but all the songs are great as you rate them.

1. To Be A Diplomat - 9/10

2. My Life - 8.5/10

3. Take Notes - 6/10

4. Grill' Em - the remis isnt on the album, this is the regular track. I never liked it too much, its aiight. Imma give it a 6.5/10

5. On The Block [Interlude] - light way funny. I skip over it

6. Back Wit It - this song is FAR from a 10/10. you're smoking something if you like this. this is a 5/10

7. Goonies - i like writer and rell's verse. jimmy, what the fuck is a soon soon? Hell Rell came the best to me. 8/10

8. He's Movin - This is most defiantly one of the best on the album. He isnt just rappin about the normal shit he rap about. I give this a 9/10

9. Riot Pump - this song is garbage/ 4/10

10. Byrd Call - this song was tight when I first heard it. I liked the version with Lil Wayne better though. 7/10

11. Xtacy - this song is ill. Its my ring tone for whenever hoes call me. the beat is hot, jr is hot on it. I give it a 8/10

12. Pay Homage - this song is pretty decent. nothing spectacular. 40 Cal comes aiight, so does jr. I give it a 7/10

13. Zoolander - this song's sole's purpose was to exhibit Jr's rhyme scheme and flow. No great lines, but a few aiight ones spread through out the track. I give it a 5.5/10

14. Put You On - this is my fuckin shit. I love Jr writer's verse, and I love Fred Money's chorus. the only thing that stops this from being a perfect song is fred money. dude still young, so Im guessing he will get better. he's jr writer's little brother for those who dont know, he like 16 or 17. I still love the track though. 9/10

15. High Music - this song is wack. haha, nah it aint wack, its just not good...at all. I dont really care about the content. 4/10

16. Why Try - this my shit too. SAS did come dope, but I didnt get a UK vibe for real from them, besides their accent. "its over doja. when I flip and put the razor to your face I aint talkin 'bout a motorola" I didnt know they used the word "doja" in the UK? They had some hot lines though, JR did aswell. "I keep the tek, sucka. so i dont care if ya pops married my mother, i dare you to step brother" its a dope track. 9.5/10

17. Stomp - this song is a fuckin duplicate of grill em and riot pump. song supposedly crunk club shit. its wack to me. 3/10

18. Thats A Bet - this song is actually old, I heard it on a mixtape. I didnt like it then, I dont like it now. Jr does come with 3 or 4 nice lines though. thats it. 5/10

19. Tha Heist - its ok, weak as hell for a story track though.very weak. 5/10

SUM-UP:
Its a decent album. its good enough to BUY!! Buy the shit, dont fuckin encourage downloading and shit. and you like a rapper and youi want to hear more of their music, SUPPORT THEM! BUY THEIR SHIT!. Target got it.your local music store got it. its decent.
