Why won’t people listen to the sounds of love that can help them,
They either dismiss the words or try to find a way around em.
Maybe they don’t listen cuz of pride to survive on their own,
But that’s like fighting your way through lines of soldiers alone.
You’ll never see the brighter side of rock bottom with that mentality,
Cuz all pride has ever done is result in fatalities.
Maybe they won’t listen because of their nationality,
Then again we all wish that we could be something else periodically,
Perhaps it’s because religion plays a part spiritually,
Is it because of my image? You gotta be kiddin me.
I will stuggle effortlessly to try and reach their hearts,
Perhaps it is because I’m not at the top of New York’s charts.
I’m nothing to others, and I can never really compare,
But when it comes down to it, my intelligence is something to share.
But No matter what you say, no one will listen directly,
Took me a long time to realize that they weren’t disrespectin me.

But I keep my message simple, but the truth remains hidden,
Because if you don’t search for it, then it is forbidden.
Maybe I just don’t appeal because of the truth I say,
Perhaps it’s because if I had the opportunity for millions I’d throw it away.
Maybe it’s because of my color, but I’d like to think,
That even though we’re on the brink,
That it wouldn’t matter if I’m the paper or the ink.
Is it because of how I speak, is it something in my speech?
Is it because I don’t always like to make people jump out their seat?
I plant the seed and wait for it to grow, hoping everyday so
That I can come back one day and see how high it is or low.
Is it because I speak in riddles that make sense in simplicity,
Is the real message so complex that they aren’t understandin me?

I keep spittin out barrages, but the bullets won’t pierce the shield,
I feel like I’m rushing into open fire in an open field.
Cuz that’s all music is, a battlefield where we shoot sounds,
But my philosophy is if I’m not above my enemies I’m below the ground.
Perhaps it’s because I just don’t fit in with the youth today,
I don’t always have to be doing some girl or having it my way.
I think the real reason they won’t listen is simple yet flawed,
Why would anyone listen to me when they won’t listen to God?
That’s why I keep writing, hoping to see God’s face and hear it,
Hear the chorus of angels singing to him and to feel his spirit.
Cuz he is the air we breathe, without him we’d choke and die,
So ask yaself this, if he doesn’t care about you then why
Does he let you live and just send you straight to your home,
Why would he continue to let you talk to your friends on the phone.
They won’t listen, and I can move past that fact,
Cuz the others I can inspire will always pick up the slack.
