The rules posted at the top of the site says that 5 active battles are allowed. If you have more than 5, any person you are battling can ask to have you DQ'ed in the battle. There are considerations if some of the battles are very old or recently reopened due to unexplained votes.

i guess to make things more organized and not having 15 battles at the same time it takes up most of the space
