I’m even there for you gracing your steps, where could you find a love more true?
I hear your softest prayer when you feel I’m not listening to you
Even when you backslid I loved, where could you find a love more true?
Even when you struggled to find yourself I helped you come to
I healed when you were rank with booze, where could you find a love more true?
So now I don’t understand, you stand before me saying you weren’t loved
When all you had to do was hold on and look to me in the sky above
Where could you find a love more true? I’ll make your life of pain only a stint
Walk with me on the golden streets well don my faithful servant

Flaming Scars

Look at me, peer into my deep brown eyes
See fear, see discontent and see the loss of the will to fight,
See that the hunger is gone from my eyes like the former king of the jungle,
Locked inside a cold steel cage to amuse all races of little tykes
What I wouldn’t give for another phase of childhood ignorance
Because the acid of life slowly burns away bliss, setting dreams a blaze.
Engulfed in a sea of red, orange and yellow tangle.
Poking their steaming claws through my memories of my first kiss,
through my first love and even through my first time.
You’ve seen all of that through one glance.
Now I ask how could you ever love away those burning scars?
My trust has wilted away like the once promising beauty of prom given roses
into bitterness. You can’t be different you’re just another pretty face
with a smile that turns away illness.
Healthy love I have grown content without
I am not playing hard to get,
Pain has made me numb to the pleasures of such fun
