You can get money by posting in certain forums and voting in battles. I believe its $5 a post and $10 a thread in certain forums and $20 a vote. Check the thread in the announcement about Rapperz for which forums.

People changed their location colors by spending money on a custom title I believe from the store. Or maybe they did it via the custom title edit and didn't close the font color html tag.
