What happened?

Where's that beautiful black woman
I saw not long ago.
Her deep brown eye's shined with this
contagious glow.
Sure loved the way you wore your Afro.
You didn't have to go out of your way to be seen.
Your shear presence was that of an African Queen.

I should have expressed what I felt inside.
Indeed you are the focus of my pride.
I may not show this in a way that you understand
Please forgive me ,as I wrestle with this issue
of being a man.
I do have feelings that I don't often share.
This is not intentional, because in my heart
I really care.
I care about you and the things you do.
That brings me to this question:
WHAT HAPPENED?

I need to know because I care.
I'm having a hard time understanding
this beautiful BLACK FACE filled with this BLOND HAIR.
This affects me in a very settle way.
I know I'm being exploited everyday.
But, to destroy the beauty of my black queen.
This is a sight for sore eyes I wish I hadn't seen.

It's your choice about how you appear.
You spend your money for your choices and that's clear.
I don't want to infringe upon your rights or
do anything that will make you feel uptight.
You deserve better and I'm concerned.
WHAT HAPPENED?

Black woman you are the mother of the earth.
Women around the world imitate you trying to find their self worth.
You are beauty personified, which means you
don't have to have your hair dyed.
You really don't have anyhting to hide.
I'm not saying this to get on your case.
I just don't understand why you have this blond hair
disfiguring your face.
WHAT HAPPENED?

Was it something I said or didn't say?
WHAT HAPPENED?
