Dark Before Dawn
Like a curtain darkness fell
Turning day to blackest hell Light gave way to shadow’s bell Dim the night as deepest well Not one star up in the sky Lonely grey clouds floating by Hiding moon’s shine way up high Wrapping tight the night’s cold lie Abrupt in shock I saw the light Mixed relief with joy and fright Pen and paper close gripped tight Words and lines are taking flight! Through the clouds on music’s wing Wind grips flesh with pleasant sting Space fills with a joyous ring Heavens shine and stars will grin Sounds are trickling through the air Through bright bursts of sun I stare Rhymes and lines at blurred ears tear Flooding fast my mind with dare Raw emotions cleave dusk’s bed Beating demons tread by tread Cosmic starry voids are fed Words and bars – my daily bread Music gives me room to breathe Gifts of life, my mind feels freed Purpose, mission, thought, belief My salvation… my relief |
