Text, and it's relationship to "rap"
 

I was having a long argument with Nostradamus tonight. He said that text has absolutely NOTHING to do with rap. After almost an hour of arguing, we formulated our main point in the argument. Here is what happened...

Socrates (3:14:02 AM): If, as you say "text has nothing to do with rap", you would NOT be able to turn it into as stated "rap" because it has nothing to do with it.
Socrates (3:14:07 AM): Your turn.
Nostradamus (3:19:00 AM): LOL...Ok, let me explain where your going wrong. Text is not rap when its sitting on a notepad.. Its just a bunch of words.. Now once someone raps it into a microphone, the vocals are the rapping.. The words that were written on the paper are not the rap.. and infact, they have nothing to do with the rap itself becuase no1 can hear them... like i said before, i could spit out the words from a book, you might call the vocals rap.....but would u say the book has anything to do with rap? no.

Please poll with who you think has the most valid point and say why.

I win, because he stepped outside of the argument. It was not about whether or not text IS rap, it is about whether or not they have any association, which indeed, they do, or else he would not be able to pick up his text and turn it into said "rap".

End of story.

How can you say text when its written has anything to do with something that is on a MUSIC track. The product is music, text is just a peice of paper with words on it.. They are not anything to do with rap.

It is rap, cuz where would rap be without the lyrics.

Lyrics are spoken.. Not read. Therefore its not rap at all.

I can write poetry, is that rap? No......So how is the lyrics to a song any different.

You and I were arguing over whether or not text is rap. You pulled out the definition of rap from a dictionary. Boom. You won. I said I didn't agree STILL but I ALSO said that I can disagree all I want but you were right about that one thing.

THEN you said that text had absolutely no relationship with rap and we started arguing about that. But you must have forgotten because you tried saying like 980723017 times what I told you you had already proven.
