Love's Blindfold
 

Venturing forth into the world with a blindfold on my eyes
Not the eyes on my face, but on my heart so as to disguise

My true feelings about the frailties of the strongest word we speak
Some people spend their entire life without this and are completely meek

Tryin ta find a reason or purpose, a small glimpse of hope
Lookin back on their past, not worried bout their future, through life's telescope

It's amazing the effects a four letter word has on the human psyche
One bad experience and you run from it like you're sponsored by Nike

But are we running because of fear or because of doubt
Cuz love is truly an exemplary once you know what it's about

On the other hand, we as a people are to caught up to notice
That things happen just like our mind, and heart, told us

Too timid to see that we have all we need under our nose
That one special person who can effortlessly ease our woes

Maybe a close friend that we've known all or most of our lives
Blinded by the friendship that you hold dear and don't want to jeopardize

Or it could be a fire lost but is in the process of being rekindled
Sub-consciously under the impression that you'll once again be pricked on love's spindle

Either way, you'll never win if you play the game safe and don't take a chance
All is fair cuz there are no rules in the game of love and romance
