Battles up Monday - Check In by Wednesday - Drop by Friday - Votes by Sunday No line limit and the battler with most votes by Sunday night is the winner. If this is a topical battle, write a topical and not a poetic drop and the same is vice a versa. All Battlers must vote on 4 other battles and leave their voting links in their battle thread. Battles voted on may be from either poetry or topical battles. Extensions must be asked for by Thursday night by pming any of the mods (Acuity, Drama Queen & Elementality). No extensions will be given 4 if asked 4 on Friday night. Extensions are only given till Sunday night at the most. Every battler must nominate (not their own) one topical and poetry battle for pieces of the week, in the main forum . Fade To Grey . . . Greenish esoteric eyes silently perceiving world's surroundings Vivid sparkle portraying heart's desire in the depths of her being Innocence present in her pale, trembling hands resting in her lap Awaiting opportunities to grasp and promising moments to seize G r a d u a l l y continuing her safe path leading towards fulfilled hopes Not once deflecting, strengthened by unconditional love for God For He will show the way she has been chosen to follow in life . . . Tick tock tick tock…can’t you hear the t-i-c-k-i-n-g of the clock? Whoosh…did you see that? Your life has just passed you by No! Don’t even bother to run after it for it’s already long gone Risks can’t be avoided in the game of life, neither can failure Experience both and overcome the obstacles to reach goals Dare to think outside the box and trust upon yourself alone But you chose to neglect your true colours and simply wait . . . I do pity many for only seeing black and white in mystery of life Yet congratulate them for not being caught up in shades of grey |
.:: Fade to Grey ::. The stars twinkle, kept warm by a blanket of darkness, the sweat dripping down the face of the only one awake. Working the ground with his old strength and old plow, claiming to not use technology, so the soil can know his touch. Tractors did not have gentle hands like grandfather did, and could not befriend the earth and gain her undying trust. Pulling her intruders, throwing the weeds behind him, laughing. He tended the flourishing garden, thorns biting deep into his flesh. His blood comingling with the earth, so the flowers would sprout. The common knowledge he shared with the old, fertile grounds, lost as he went too far, and finally, unwillingly had bit the dust. His skin quickly faded to grey, in contrast with the brown of the earth. After his death, the seeds he had planted could no longer feel him, and so this caused them to sleep below as the earth above hardened. |

Kein, I liked your style, and autenticity in this one. I just think your approach could have been a little more indepth for what you decided to write the topic on. I think that if you would of gone in another direction it coulda been a better piece
Drama, I really liked your piece because of the colors........even without the colors in the fonts you still had a really colorful/ imaginative piece. You came with a lot more elements of poetry such as your onomatopoeias , and allegory which gave great variation and create a sound mental picture to understand what you are thinking.
