Problem with SM58!
 

hey umm.. i just got Shure SM58. I got Livewire EXH20 / EXH20P2H, 20 foot cord with it. I got HOSA GMP113 1/4 in. adaptor to put on the end of the cord so i can connect it to my computer. Shit is not working, what did I do wrong? My fuckin ATR 20 works perfect.

do u need a preamp for all the good mics i thought it was just to get bettrer quality...

Pre-amp is just for condensors man.

I had a shure sm58 for a good few years, and still use it sometimes, so I can probably help you out with it...

the word "Bullshit" comes to mind. Especially seeing that only about 10% of the preamps out come with phantom power for condensers.

^Nah man I had decent quality on mine and no pre amp. Its all about the editing.

dont listen to tha duesche above me.... i've only heard of ppl NEEDING a preamp for condensers... i own the sm58 legendary shure instrumental mic and record with it daily... you DO NOT need a pre amp... maybe you have the wrong cord or ur hooking it up the wrong way... get at me if u need help...
