weve all been through pain no matter the class/
everybody suffers for what theyve done in the past/
evil somehow conqueres...until it kills the last/
one standin, no man can withstand the masses/
theyr vital for him to live..like oxygen gasses/
stand alone and u wither, faster than time passes/
you need some more life, or at least another half/
you require someone to shed tears or to laugh/
you cant do it alone, like a boss with no staff/
you have to learn your roots before you find the path/
of being tagged one the most skilful and great/
people with talents, even if magic, cant change fate/

im looking at my wall, and on my wall i can see/
a poster of emcees all greater than me/
theres Biggie, Nas, Pac, Slick Rick n Jay Z/
Rakim, KRS Eminem and Chuck D/
faces of different areas and aspects of the game/
Mos Def, some of the Wu and Big Dady Kane/
then again theres sum missin, what happened to public choice/
wheres Ras Kass, Canibus, Scarface and Royce?/
Sage Francis,Immortal Tek, shit the list goes on/
but there are alot of greats, so dont get me wrong/
just that sum of them, lyrically, do not belong/
some go un noticed, some have been too good for too long/
too many ways and days until you become strong/
too many guys fall, cos rights are conquered by wrong/

those who dont know me...might misinterpret my speech/
i thank all who helped me learn..the ones who cared to teach/
withot you..id be nuthing..so i keep learnin those lessons/
but truthfully...how many times have i left you guessin?/
is he white is he black? is he whack? was he born to rap?/
no ones 1st impression can determine or answer these questions/
all i need is one chance, so grant it n ill prove my position/

you need someone to judge, and someone thats just great/
an artist is nuthin, without his canvas and paints/
a rapper cant blow without fans willin' to wait/
take a look back on things, subtract the killin and find/
