Hustle And Flow Hits Hard
“Hustle and Flow” debuted at No. 7 in the weekend box office, but the seemingly unimpressive showing is not so bad considering that the hip-hop film appeared on only a third of the screens as big-budget movies. The film, completed on a shoestring budget and centered on a pimp-turned-rapper, raked in $8.1 million over the weekend. Terrence Howard, the movie’s star, is already beginning to hear the Oscar buzz. "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Wedding Crashers" snatched the top two spots again this week. “Charlie,” a Tim Burton/ Johnny Depp collaboration, made about $28.3 million over the weekend, according to Daily Variety.
