Roc-A-Fella Records Signs Tru Life
Roc-A-Fella Records has further expanded its high-powered rap roster by signing New York City rapper Tru Life to his first recording deal. A native of Manhattan’s Lower East Side, Tru Life has been looming on the horizon of the East Coast hip hop scene for years and was well known for a heated beef with Mobb Deep. Snoop Dogg began courting Tru Life after he appeared on stage with him at Harlem’s famed Apollo Theatre on May 2 but a bidding war ensued. Sony, SRC/Universal and Def Jam all reportedly began to woo the rapper. According to a press release issued by Sickamore, a DJ closely associated with Tru Life, the emcee is now working on a his promotional “Better Late Than Never” mixtape. No release date is set yet for his debut album.
