Feds Take Down Suge Knight

One of Marion "Suge" Knight's ex-bodyguards and the guard's accomplice were recently convicted of federal drug charges in relation to a big Southern California PCP distribution ring.

This past Thursday, George Williams and Rodrick Cardale Reed, of Compton, were convicted of manufacturing and distributing PCP and conspiracy to distribute the dope. The two both face a maximum sentence of life in prison and are scheduled to be sentenced November 14th.

Williams, a former Knight bodyguard and his accomplice Reed were cuffed after federal agents found that they took part in the drug trade by tapping their phones.

Two years ago, Investigators discovered 175 kilograms of PCP, 50 weapons and over $100,000 in cash during raids. According to authorities, 23 out of 26 people who have been charged in the case have been convicted or pleaded guilty to the offenses.

The 18-month probe also unveiled two big PCP laboratories in Adelanto and Palmdale in addition to a cargo van that drug agents said was one of the biggest mobile PCP labs ever discovered.

"This stuff was being used to flood the market in South Central L.A., mostly in Compton," stated Ty Labbe, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Detective.

According to authorities, Reed, 36, oversaw the manufacturing of the PCP and decided on its street price. Williams was reportedly a "top-level" associate of Reed's. Authorities said that Williams and Reed were also considered "persons of interest" in the shooting of Alton McDonald, Knight's best friend and the killing of a bodyguard that was gunned down in Compton in April 2002. McDonald previously worked as a production manager for Death Row Records and was shot and killed while filling his car up at a gas station back in 2002. He was 37 when he was killed.

"[My client] absolutely denies involvement in any kind of violent situation," Joseph Vodnoy, Reed's lawyer stated. "There was nothing on the wiretaps to indicate he was complicit to a violent act."

According to the Los Angeles Times, McDonald was with Knight and Tupac Shakur when the emcee was killed in Las Vegas, Nevada. Shortly before Pac's murder, McDonald and Pac reportedly took part in a fight captured on MGM hotel surveillance cameras.
