Whats the best brand and type of mic?...anybody got a site that explains them and what brand would you recommend.

Um...Ill spend like around 150 or less give or take 5 bucks or somethin

Id go with an MXL 990... you can get those for $60, and they're sick, but the catch is you'll need to buy a pre amp and a pop filter, as well as all the cords and adaptors.

If you dont wanna buy all that shit, just buy a shure SM58 and a pop filter. The only other shit you would need is an XLR cable and an XLR to 1'8 minijack adaptor.

I love posts liek this. The 990 is a GREAT intro mic, but it's not for everyone. depends on what your voice type is like. So really there is no "best mic" unless oyu're looking to spend 2500 on a Neuman U-87. And even that's for specific purposes you many not wanna get involved with.

So is your voice, bassy, mid, or high, and what do you expect fomr the mic, one that makes you sound liek you really sound, or one that'll highlight certian aspects of your voice? Oh also, what's your recording environment like?

yea, I got a $200 mic, but I can't use my pre-amp for shit. :(
