Change your lyrics for a loved one?

Males and females alike, like say for guys, lets say you used some language that a female would consider derrogatory, but this was your steady girl and she said it offended her, or ladies, lets say you made a track about how can pull men easily, and that's your rap persona, yet your lover said he felt awkward about it, be real, would you change for your loved one? Say mother, friend, brother, anything. Would ya?

My little bro always looked up to me and such, and when he heard me swearin in a battle, it really offended him, cause I'm christian and all that. He told me how he felt, and I haven't swore in one rap since then. I try and keep all my stuff clean, like how I live and such too, but thats one area that I won't compromise cause of the effect I have on people like him. word.

Word up, that's a tight situation since it's religious, but my position is that if they mentioned it, I'll definitely be more aware of what I'm saying and doing in the tracks, but I'd have to explain to them that I have to make certain types of tracks to reach into certain markets and I'd just hope they can understand it.

Hell to the no...
Anything I write in my music is there for a reason...

She can suck my dick.............Literally....

Well if you look at the songs I wrote while I went with april its a big difference in terms of the mood of the song.

Critic 11-01-05 08:56 AM

It depends on the mood thats the whole point of writing,...
when I'm well pissed off I say all kinds of things infront of
my mum but she knows I'm not disrespecting her to an
extent.

We put alot of emotion and feelings into our writing coz sometimes
its best people in the real world dont hear what we say.

thats truth rite there!

if I'm recording something and my mom's around and it has a curse in it I'll change the word so I'm not cursing around her but that's it really...I don't change my content in general for anyone...

my boi DVS and I were talking one day about lyrics and he said he thinks a lot of people use the word "nigga" as a filler and just throw it in whenever they can't or don't feel like thinking of anything else to say, so I've made it a point to minimiZe and almost eliminate my use of the word "nigga" in my raps...I'd rather be more creative than to just throw in the word on a whim cuz I don't feel like taking the time to think a little bit more...

far as cursing goes, I also try and minimiZe that but sometimes ya need a good ol' curse word to convey true anger, lmao...but honestly, I'm trying to get to a point lyrically where I don't have to resort to using those either

good thread topic Apexx

You gotta be able to make a difference between your rap persona and who you truly are...

I mean my ex boyfriend gets all grimey when he's rapping and in a battle he'd say things like: 'I'd have your bitch sucking my dick' (I mean not that exactly but in those lines...). I didn't mind though because I know it's part of his image and it adds up to his attitude. When he was rapping or battling, he'd be straight up asshole to be honest with you. Unless he was writing or doing an emotional track or such of course. But I didn't mind...

I understand about cursing and such, if you're christian or such that it can be offensive. I personally do not mind...

WHAT?! that makes aboslutely no sense. You're trying to say that you put extra work into your lyrics because it's better that people don't hear wht you say?? uhh...ok.
