OK you listen to a beat, a lot of cats think up a verse in their head and then spit it..Common does it, Jay-Z does it, matter of facts some people say it's easier to be done that way? My question is is it easier to be done by memorizing it or taking a time to write up a verse...What would be more efficient...but thanks cullian u answered right i was just hoping for a more one-sided answer either way.

what ever feels mor natural man.. everyone has there techniques of doing things yah just gotta find your own..Me personally i take my time usually listen to a beat like 10 times, just brainstorming ideas, and once i have a idea i write out a thesis.. if i cant explain what my song is about in less then a sentence, then its probely to complicated or i have two songs in one..anway.. i usually wirte a bit to a beat then come back to it like a day later, you get a way different persepctive on it, and usually change alot of things.. thats me anyway.. Now if your talking just spitting it after i hear a beats.. thats more of a freestyle.. but most songwritters will edit like crazy when making a song.. rarely its just spitted off yah head.. and thats the song.. its a freestyle.. word.. thats just me tho

Thanks, at least you told me what you do which makes it way more appropriate. And thanks I don't want t to be like a freestyle which would=no subject matter

When i write i just write whatever comes into my head, if im not sure of a couplet i'll rap it just to see how it sounds. I normally write a bunch of rhymes and piece the best bits together to make a nicer verse. As i write i gotta take my time cause getting the multies to fit right is my number one concern when writing. Imagery comes easy to me.
