It's simple really.

We are all trying to do the same thing...

...Become famous rappers.

So, friendships aside, any individual's competition on RV is...well, really, everybody else.

So when somebody says a negative thing to somebody else, the one being offended should really not care...because that is his or her competition.

Think of it as mustard...different brands are on the same shelf, but in reality, they are trying to achieve the same thing.

Do you really think that record executives give a flying fuck about who your friends are..? No, if somebody is better than you, they will take that person over you, if they take either one of you at all.

In human nature, this will lead to jealousy, even the slightest bit of it.

Some may think of their music as a hobby, so that may be the only possible exception in these circumstances.

Just my two cents.

not really, because is somebody on a forum can pick out flaws in your music, so will record exec's... also people on forums beleive it or not and as ludacris as it may sound, people on forums are all potentials fans and customers to your music, so their opinions still count.

yes some take it as a hobby and nothing more, so to them the opinions wont really matter simply because they arent wanting to do anything with their music, then there is people in different countries aswell who will probably just want to make an impact on their countries scene and thats it(like me). but at the end of the day, every1 is still a potential customer of your music and you need to think of it that way, because as an up and coming artist, you need as many "fans" and "sales" as you can possibly get to help increase your reputation further and quicker.

I agree partially, BUT a rap site with maybe a couple hundred members would actually matter compared to a potential audience of millions..?

Sorry, I would rather take the coverage I am seeking to get from radio.

And net radios don't count either.

lets face it though, chances are your not gonna get famous, most likely best youd get is around your city MAYBE a couple of other places.

but when you concider these people on forums, better or worse than you, know the technical sides of making the music, so the advice they give you and the negatives given on your music, you should work on to increase your chances, because alot of your audience is going to be people who make music themselves.

and you want the gods honest truth??? your not ready to try make it big, find your own style first, tweak it and get yourself set, and aim to break your city first, because if you break your city people will talk and word will get out and lables will be like "this kids the big thing in *insert city* we gotta check him out", simply because you have made a status... aiming straight away for the top is heading for dissapointment.

i mean, look at people like, warbux, point god, jin.... all of them are a million times better than you, they were a million times better than you when they started moving away from the net, and they are now doing their thing, no offence btw, just usin u as an example.... but seriously.

everybodies opinions and comments count in some sort of way at the end of the day, and no matter what you argue, wont edit that fact.

I respect your opinion...

...And who says I'm trying to make it big now..? I have already been offered deals from local indy labels, but I rejected them.

I'm too young.

I'm 17 years old.

No disrespect, but you look like your 24.

By the time I'm your age, I will be turning some heads. And that's just what I honestly believe.

And if you truly think that people from the net aren't going to make it...then include yourself in that as well. You have flaws in your music as well.

But you have to shoot for the stars.

Go big or go home.

If you don't want to make a name for what you do, then there is no reason to begin.

Logic The Goonie 01-23-06 02:34 AM

Stop trying to justify your fucking whackness.

Excetera 01-23-06 02:44 AM

Rappin's simply just a hobby 4 me.

let me start by saying i have no beef with u or nothing like that cos u seem cool, but this post was retarded and ignorant.

im 20 years old... ive allready started turning heads in my country, radio stations, i got a lable putting my CD out, so ive started doing my thing.

i never said i dont have flaws in my music, i know my flaws i know where i need to practice, and most of the flaws u have heard have been fixed up since i last uploaded a song(nearly 6 months or more ago...

i never said NOBODY from the net will make it, but the majority will get nowhere... look how many actually have... Jin is the most successefull so far, and his album flopped.

im not bothered about going "big".. like i said in my post.

"then there is people in different countries aswell who will probably just want to make an impact on their countries scene and thats it(like me)."

i dont care about world wide recognition, if i can make some kind of status in the UK, im happy with that, i do this because i love doing it, im not in it for the money at all, id happily put my music out for free, and from time to time will be releasing free download mixtapes aswell as CD's for sale(which wont be very expensive at all anyway).

and saying if ur not going for the big time theres no reason to start is the dumbest comment ive ever heard, because, to alot of people, its a hobby and nothing more, they make music for themselves and just for the fun of it. so there is plenty of reason to start.

and in a sense i do kinda agree with socrates comment, it does sound like ur making an excuse for getting negative comments.

I'm not trying to become a famous rapper.

Mentor 01-23-06 03:11 AM

yea styles the most iportant cuz ur style is ur trademark its what makes people reconize u out of the crowd...then once u got ur style down then u can touch up ur shit from there and people will be tryin ta copy ur sound

Past Tense 01-23-06 03:15 AM

T.I was on rapmusic but iono i think under certain peoples contracts ur not allowed too go too those sites or somthin

La Cosa Nostra 01-23-06 03:15 AM

Uhh.. Yeah I really could give less than a fuck about people on the internet...

I dont see anyone here as competition.. Jus other rappers full stop... Most people have very warped ideas on how to go about starting their careers anyway, so I dont exactly expect anyone of the people here to become famous rappers...

Competition for me is other rappers that are already in the game.. Not others on the come up...

Okay, sorry about that, no pun intended from my post, I was just trying to defend my opinions. Congrats for turning heads, though.

And the only negative comments I get are my quality and I need a little work switching up and being consistent with flow, and alos sometimes my delivery is off.

Like you, I know my flaws and I work on them.

I take my negative comments as constructive criticism. And I mean from everybody. You never hear me bitching about comments people give me, because that is their own opinion.

Tha Q. 01-23-06 08:09 AM

I rap as a hobby as well. But, like all my hobbies, I try to become good at them. Who wants to suck?

Oh...as for this thread, I somewhat agree. However, the competition that I respect only serves to make me a better rapper.

Which RV rappers, directly or indirectly, make me elevate my game?

Tito...makes me elevate my delivery/rhyming
Tonyself...makes me elevate my flow
Trip...makes me rethink emotion in raps/content
Cho Wang...makes me infuse lyricism in my raps, vocab

DATS IT.
