I Need Tips on making contracts for a label.......
ok so ive had this idea circulating through my head the last couple days.....
since i got all this sick ass equipment for christmas....( which i still havent hooked any of it up ).....my quality is gonna be really nice......since its already pretty damn good right now....with all the new shit....itll sound quite a bit better.... ok...so my sister is moving back here cause she gets out the army in april......so my step dad ( who is a contractor and framer ) is building an apartment building ( a quad plex ) for me and my friends to move in.....and for her to move in....cause they dont want her living with them when she gets back......... so once i move here pretty soon....ill get all my equipment set up...and ill have a booth since my mom is gonna build me a walk in closet for one..... ive been thinking....i could grab up a few local artists......give them a lil 1 album contract.......and i dont wannna leave ANYTHING out of this contract...ive already thought up tons of stuff............. but the way i wanna do it....is have them record over at my apartment......get their cd done.....i pay for everything ( cd's, cases, covers, etc. )....then i give all of em to them to hustle theirselves.....i get 3 bucks from each CD they sell....which would basically mean i make 2 dollars off each cd....and they make about 2 dollars.... theres a lot more i have thought up....but thats just kind of an outline of what im about to start..... so can anyone help me out with things that should be on my contract? i really need some tips cause i dont wanna leave a thing out where people can screw me.... |

pretty much the same here.... nets gettin old soon as i turn 18 there will be no more 'net' for me...cuz thats when i move out and can start making my own desicions..and that would mean i'll be able tooo move too my friend chris's house and have a free studio everyday..1 more year man 1 more year |
My only tip on building a contract is make sure you choose the 'clauses' in the contract wisely...Like watch for get out clauses and buying out clauses, 'cause higher prestiage record labels will snap up your artist by buyin him out.
