Fuckin Mic Not Workin

This is seriously the worst feelin in the world.... ive been at this for 2-3 days, and i cant get it to work...... the problem has to do with when where i plug the XRT cord from the mic into the Input for the pre-amp

has anyone had this problem.. if so, do u know if its prolly the mic thats messed up or the pre-amp?

THIS IS SO GAY....... especially wen u have like 2 songs to record, ugh..... bitch

have you hooked the mic up before this and has this ever happened to you before?

TeamOne 05-27-06 04:01 PM

well the mic used to work....... but this problem has happened before, and i used to just have to move the cord around alil in the input socket of my preamp and it would work fine.... and than i went thru a real long stage after that where there was no problem wat so ever...... and i didnt need to jiggle the cord around in a "hot spot" to get it to work.... but now its been three days, and i cant move the cord around anywhere to work....

I was gonna suggest flippin it around, but it's probably female to male. what barand of wire is it? it might be broken inside or the xlr connector is loose from the wire.

if you have a second XLR in your set up, try swapping them around and see if that helps, if not, might be time to cash it in and get a new cable mayne

i had the same problem but i didnt figure mine out for atleast a week....does ur pre-amp have phantom power???? if it doesnt u might wanna return it cuz thats most likely the idea...if ur mic is a condenser mic u have ta get a interface with phantom power

TeamOne 05-27-06 05:13 PM

it has phantom power..... all this shit used to work...... keep that in mind, its not like i have things hooked up wrong

Mentor 05-27-06 05:15 PM

oh...then i dont know :(

TeamOne 05-27-06 05:57 PM

thanks apexx...... i may flip it........ i just hope it IS the cord and not the socket in the preamp

∆ P E X X 05-27-06 06:12 PM

^^psshh that makes two of us. anyone ever tug or step on the wire while it was plugged in? if so...

ah hell I don't even wanna tell you the rest :(

TeamOne 05-27-06 06:32 PM

YES...... please fuckin tell me, someone stepped on it, which kinda tugged at it

well that could have EASILY fucked the port up. same type thing happened to the soundcard on my computer after a good fwew dosen tugs. shit just doesn't line up liek it used to.

but for an XLR, try bending the prongs out slightly so they make more contact with the connectors, get what I'm saying?

TeamOne 05-27-06 08:28 PM

word, ill try that thanks........ and yea, it might have messed up the port, which may explain why i usually had to move the cord around in the port alil bit until it worked
