Same Sex Marriage proposal failed
The amendment to ban same sex marriages failed in the Senate this morning. I am not a proponent of same sex marriages, but I'm glad it didn't pass. I think the states should continue to do what they're doing, and that is to legislate whether or not gay couples can get married. Infusing bigotry into the constitution is just as dangerous as trying to re-write history itself.
Well, as it stands, gay marriage will remain legal in the U.S. in some states until the GOP raises this issue again to rally their base. Holla back 1 |

^Yeah, I mean, why should people be allowed to live their own lives? Shit, while we're at it, lets get rid of freedom of speech.
Things will be a lot better. We can call it a utopia... Oh wait, it already has a name. DICTATORSHIP. |

This is the 21st century.. For a government to place a regulation restricting the freedom of the people to have their relationship legally recognised only creates problems due to the fact that they obviously arnt living by the same laws as everyone else. Thats gotta breach something in your laws right? Something to do with equality?
Say a man marries a woman and by a freak accident, he dies. Legally, she is entitled to his estate. Which means she can continue her way of life after her husband is dead. Now picture the same situation... Only... The couple being some poofters with no ability to 'lawfully' get married. Ehh.. Sorry... The government doesent recognise your patership as being real. So... *cough* fuck off... Personally this has no effect on myself.. And I find it hilarious that the only queer on this site is actually ignorant enough to take up the stance of being against the notion of his 'kind' being able to legalise their relationship. But then, I get the feeling the q doesent have very much relationship experience in the first place.. Yet another error in his judgement due to naievity....... How origional........... |
