Normalizing Vocals...
Whenever I normalize my vocals (i usually set it to 75%), they always come out sounding kinda muffled and blurred if that makes any sense... like they lose their crispness that they had before... anybody else have this problem or know how to fix it? thanks...

At what stage of the editing process do you normalize? It should be the last thing you do.

yup, it is... i usually run noise reduction, pop/click, then normalize... i'm too lazy to figure out all the rest... |
Gimmie your mic. :shoot:

"Noise reducers" and "normalize" are fuckin GARBAGE and steal fidelity from your vocals like woah.
Click/pop reducers kill your highs, so be smart, record better intead of trying to repair fundamental fuck-ups in post editing, it just does NOT work. Replace Normalize with some compression, since that's what normalize tries to emulate. Do it right cuz....well...if it ain't right...it's wrong. There's no short cut to EQing and compression man. Take it from me, I've tried everything. and that's an understatement |
